I was just looking for foods that have the highest amount of calcium and I stumbled upon sesame seeds; I don't know about you, but I had NO idea how much nutrition was in those little things!
Dry toast in a cast iron skillet sliced almonds, add seeds later because they'll take less time to get color. When both are golden, remove from pan, let cool, add equal amounts seeds, nuts and nutritional yeast to a blender/food processor and whiz. Vegan parmasan!
I love toasted seeds with veggies, noodles, or rice.
I like buying the un-roasted kind from Asian markets. If I need roasted/toasted sesame seeds, I'll do it myself in a frying pan and get a better flavor.
I LOVE adding 1/2 cup of plain white sesame seeds to the dough of home made bread. Why is it standard to just sprinkle them on the outside??? They are lovely inside the bread!
Also, at Indian Groceries you can get a sesame seed version of peanut brittle. Its very sweet. Its just a bunch of sesame seeds all stuck together with hardened sugar. Yum!!! You can also buy tiny bars of this at health food stores for a higher price.
I put them in smoothies, add them to salads, or mix them in anything really. Like sometimes I'll make a vegan pizza and put the sauce on then put a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
