Scones<br><br>
Category: Breads<br><br><br><br>
Suitable for a: vegan diet<br><br><br><br><br><br>
Ingredients:<br><br>
------------------------------------------------------<br><br><br><br>
2 cups flour<br><br>
1 Tbsp baking powder<br><br>
1/2 tsp salt<br><br>
2 Tbsp sugar<br><br>
1/2 cup plus 1 Tbsp vegan margarine<br><br>
1/3 cup soymilk<br><br>
egg replacer equivalent to 1 egg<br><br><br><br><br><br>
Instructions:<br><br>
------------------------------------------------------<br><br><br><br>
Preheat oven to 450°F.<br><br>
Mix dry ingredients.<br><br>
Cut in margarine.<br><br>
Make a well in the middle, add soydrink and egg replacer.<br><br>
Mix with a fork to form a soft dough.<br><br><br><br>
Knead lightly. Shape into 2 discs about 3/4" thick.<br><br>
Cut each disc into quarters<br><br>
Put on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes, until light golden brown.<br><br>
Serve warm with vegan margarine and/or jam.<br><br><br><br><br><br>

I love these 'cause they're so basic, and so versatile.<br><br>
Dress these up however you'd like! Dried fruit, nuts, fresh berries, cinnamon, whatever.

<p>omg. scones.  I want to try these... I have some dried cranberries in the pantry... would be lovely.  Might do it on Monday after I can figure out what to do with these zucchini brownies lol</p>

<p>I totally would lol... I made them and there's 24 of them!  It's just me and my cat.  Maggie doesnt like brownies either.  <img alt=":|" src="http://files.veggieboards.com/images/smilies/blank.gif" style=""></p>

Well as i am veggie and not vegan i used milk and an egg and i have to say i am quite proud of myself. They are really nice and my partner who doesn't like scones liked them :)

Scones! I find that in the states scones are only good if homemade. Every time I've had them in cafes and other places they are just so....blahh.

But when I make them at home, the texture seems different and they are just better. I think most things are better when made in your home, but scones are one of the big ones for me.
