This is one of the many animals I keep, my friend Jenna tells me that people on here were interested in the centipedes, so feel free to ask any questions.<br><a href="http://cdn.veggieboards.com/8/85/850bd80e_vbattach4723.jpeg"><img alt="LL" src="http://cdn.veggieboards.com/8/85/525x525px-LL-850bd80e_vbattach4723.jpeg" style="width:525px;height:429px;"></a>

It's a really good picture, Matt.<br><br><br><br>
What's the lifespan for this particular one?

The lifespan is generally accepted as 10 years plus, but there really isn't any definite answer here, it hasn't been studied in detail. I know someone who got the same species as an adult and has had it for the last 8 years though.

That species can reach a maximum of around 10 inches in body length, mine is about 7" right now. They continue to molt and grow throughout their lives, with adults molting about once a year, it is an adult though.

I wasn't sure if it was male or female.</span>

It's actually very hard to tell male from female with most Scolopendra species, the genitals are all internal, supposedly they can be everted with pressure on the last segment, but I wouldn't dare try that on a live one of that species. My guess is that it's a female, as the terminal legs are shorter and more flattened compared to the ones on another I had (sex was determined after death).
