Had the following reply from the Vegan Society:

Hi Paul

Here is a link to an article of kids shoes. Hope it helps!

activeg.org/articles/432.html

Kind regards

And this from Vegetarian Shoes:

"Hello

We used to do children's shoes but found that they didn't sell very well and they were quite pricey and unfortunately our staff in the shop are not trained kids shoe fitters which proved to be a lot of hassle.

And BHS synthetic shoes are vegan and use rubber glue as do some of Shoezone shoes, which you can find on the high street.

Thanks for your interest and good luck!

Regards

Vegetarian Shoes"

In the end I went to a shop in bournemouth yesterday and bought some shoes by US Brass, which are all synthetic and today's scuffing showed that they are a lot tougher! I'll be returning the rubbish ones to Woolies...

and just now i found this: search for 'veganline' and you'll find it too.

End of line.
