That's right! My most dreaded suspicions have been confirmed. We had my dog spayed right after her first heat cycle ended. She still tried to visit the neighbors. She dug out under the fence with encouragement from the neighbors dog and the neighbor. She came back home with a bloody bottom and a bite on the neck. We have put her on a tie out since.

Ever since she was little, her best buddy has been the male cat next door. Occasionally I have noticed her urinary/vaginal opening looking slightly irritated, and we have had quite a few rounds of antibiotics for a temperature. Yesterday I finally caught my Angel backing up to the "Buddy" cat next door, and he was definately at full "attention".

Oh, Clawd Have Mercy! Pick me up and call me Charlie! My Angel is not an angel. She's not a tramp, She's interspecies!

Okay. I am not really worried about the interspecies thing. What has me worried is, I think this must be what is keeping her sick. Has anyone heard anything about this before?

Have you told the vet yet? If not, what are you waiting for? I want to know what the vet says about it.

I keep wanting to hum" Maria" from Westside Story.

I can't say I've ever heard of this, but I'll bet your vet probably

has. Talk to him. It certainly sounds like that's causing the problem.

Good Luck.

LOL!!! Actually, it's not too funny if it's bad for her health. I agree to check with the vet...

My bf's sister and her lhasa apso (sp?) are staying with us and she told us that one day she came home and Rascal (the dog) was humping one of our cats, Nigel. Interspecies homosexuality!

These two have been together since they were both about 4 months old. I am not sure either one of them ever really knew the other wasn't the same species. We have a female dog and a male cat here. I am not sure what the attraction is unless the vet didn't do a totally complete job of getting all of the reproductive plumbing and she still gives off a certain perfume. I don't know. Maybe they are both just hot to trot.

I'm in the "WOW" group too...I know that when a lot of animals get spaid they hump other females for a while. Maybe it's along the same line.

You have to talk to your veterinarian about this, weird as it may sound. There is some period of time after s/n surgeries when animals still exhibit sexual behavior due to hormonal activity in the body, but if it continues there could be a more serious problem.

! Hey, well it is year 2006....times have changed. In this day and age, if a dog and cat can't it on in the privacy of their own back yard without it being advertised on a forum, well....

haha.

Seriously, that's quite the situation you have there

Pogo is a sweet cat, but he better keep his infections to himself, or Mamma's going to get very unhappy.
