Interesting perspective.

Actually stroking pets is proven to reduce stress and blood pressure, and so having a "furson" to pet is very good for your health.

Animals - my pets, the wildlife around me, the animals I see when I travel, all bring incredible joy and serenity to my life. They are essential to my well-being.

About the animals saving us.............have you ever noticed what plants some animals eat when they are sick? Or that animals seem to sense an impending storm.

Pets are a tiny minority of the animals humans are involved with in any real sense. About 98% of animals humans come into direct contact with we intensively confine and then kill for food (10 Billion land animals each year in the US alone), 100 million we cage and hurt and kill for animal research each year in the US...

I'd say, given the tremendous abuse that humans are visiting on the animals, any compassionate human now should be working to save THEM, not the other way around. People forget to look from a political perspective at the vast majority of animals we are hurting for food and other products, and just think of the animals we share our homes with (also forgetting the 8 million or so abandoned ones that we have killed in shelters in the US each year)...
