I have been a vegetarian for a couple of months, and I have been having a strong salt craving every night for the past couple of weeks. For me, I have to have pretzels and will either stock up at the grocery store when shopping, or will have to send my husband out at night to get some if we're out. I have never had this before. Could the diet be causing this?

Just remembered reading about an issue with soy products and thyroid conditions... I am hypothyroid. Could the soy products be affecting me this way?

Thanks,

That could be possible. You might want to see a doctor and try reducing your soy intake.

I was gonna say the same thing and suggest seeing a doctor to be sure. Hope your feeling better soon.

Definitly see your doctor, but are you eating fewer processed foods, because of becoming vegetarian? Most our salt intake comes from processed foods, not from salt we add to our food, so it could be that you've unintentionally reduced your intake.

getting an abundance of K?

like lots and lots and lots of raw veggies? If you have an abundance of potasium, your body will need some sodium to balance it.
