So Ive had NO MEAT at all for about 2 weeks now. And Ive adjusted perfectly, I havent missed meat that much, and I tried the gardenburger and other veggie products and it has just been great, I even lost some weight and feel a lot healthier. But...today something HORRIBLE happened. I got home and saw some spagetti so I decided well..that looks good and it looked like it just had tomato sauce on it, and it was REALLY REALLY good! I ate alot. Then after I finished eating I saw a jar of Prego on the counter and I saw that it said MEAT

it was opened and next to the spagetti that I ate, I immediately dropped my plate lol I ran to the nanny and I was like "Did you use that sauce on the spagetti?!" and she said what I dreaded..."Yes" OMG... >< Am I exaggerating?

I feel like im ruined.

I literally feel all the grease in me , I feel Disgusting and GROSS. ><

...What should I do..forget I asked that theres nothing I CAN do.

We've all had our slip-ups. I feel disgusting when I've accidently eaten something meaty, but eventually I get over it and learn to be more cautious. Don't worry, you're not alone.

I don't mean to sound mean, but, you're bound to have a few slip ups. Take it as a lesson learned and move on

You're not ruined, especially since you didn't intentionally eat meat. I'm terrified for my first slip-up because I have issues with consistency, but I'll try not to let it bother me ^^

Lessons learned the hard way tend to stick with us the longest! Sorry it happened to you, but don't let it get you down for too long.

We all make mistakes, and we're all guilty of not being diligent enough one time or another. Don't beat yourself up about it.

We all slip up, and you didn't think, "Gee, I think I'll eat some meat today." It was an honest mistake. You can't take it back, but I bet next time you'll say(as most of us do) "This looks good! What did you put in the sauce?" It just takes a while to figure out what to watch for, what to ask about, and what never to take for granted.

I'd imagine even the most die-hard veggie people on here have had a few slip-ups over the years. My two worst:

The "vegetarian" quiche that contained ham--now I dont eat home-prepared food by people I dont know unless it is OBVIOUSLY veg--e.g. carrot sticks

The vegetable spring rolls that I ordered from the Chinese. Apparently they misheard my order or ran out of vegetable or something, so substituted duck ones instead...

It makes you feel guilty, and often quite ill, but there is nothing you can do about it. Just keep taking all reasonable steps to make sure food is suitable for you before you eat it.

Don't stress about it! You're not ruined and it hasn't shaken your descision to not eat meat (BTW- awesome! Congrats!). It was totally not your fault... but I know how you feel- lol- and it's not a good feeling. Just try and let it go and not worry.

The other night we went out for the best meal in my life, and the most wonderful new retaurant, with the most understanding waiter who assured me he would not serve me anything with meat. After the apetizer, and another anti-pasta delicious dish, my spinach came. I looove spinach I dug into the biggest bite.... and it was covered in tiny little bits of bacon and smothered in bacon juice. Yuk! But I let it go and enjoyed the rest of my meal. It just... happens, unfortunately

like others have said, it happens. To everyone, eventually. You just have to do your best

Yep, happened to me too. I felt so bad at first, but then realized how I need to check food labels more carefully. I also ask a lot of questions at restaurants. I'm considered a pain in the a$$, but I don't want another slipup. Keep on rockin'!

I actually had it happen this weekend. We had a scare where my husband's doctor thought he needed to have a heart bypass surgery. Fortunately he did not, but I went to Reno to be with him as he and his squadron have been in Fallon, NV. Anyways, I was so relieved that when we had breakfast the next morning, I accidentally ate some ham or bacon- I am not sure which though. We were at a buffet and I got some little quiches. I thought they were carmelized onion or something. I figured out different when I took a bite. I was wondering what the weird flavor was when it hit me. I just took them off the plate and figured I would be more careful from now on.
