Does anyone else find that warm roasted pine nuts taste a bit like chicken skin? I know what a cliche - tastes like chicken. We had pasta with pumpkin sauce (drool), green beans and I made garlic butter lentils to go with it. I roasted some pinenuts to mix with the lentils and I swear they tasted like chicken skin. I made my dad taste them and he said they did too and he's an omni so at least I know it wasn't just me. Maybe it was the canola spray I used? Weird.

Never noticed that. I love pine nuts. Kinda bummed my wife forgot to put them in our salads tonight. Guess it gives us an excuse to have the same dish again some time this week. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

I've noticed that planters roasted cashews smell like seafood to me. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

I don't know about the pine nuts/chicken skin thing, but I have noticed that mushrooms, if sauteed almost to the point of distruction, tastes a bit like crispy bacon fat..... <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/shocked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":eek:">
