Question: Places that advertise that they will substitute a Boca Burger for any of their burger dishes, (ex: Red Robin, Friendly's) - does anybody know if it is the vegan one? Because they have some varieties that contain milk and eggs.

Red Robin states their Boca is the vegan one. I loe red robins because it's much bigger than the ones sold in stores. If you just ask or the boca burger though I think the sauce on it isnt vegan because it's a yellowish white like mayo or something so I leave it off.<br><br>
I dont know of any other places with boca burgers but I know Dennys has a vegan Amy's burger that's not as good as boca but it's pretty good still

It might depend on the location. I've never been to or heard of a Friendly's that carried a boca burger but I just checked their website and their boca burger is listed as containing milk ingredients.

some places use the vegan Boca burger (i think Yardhouse does) however its a good idea to ask about the ingredients in the bun because a lot have eggs/milk. and how they prepare the veggie burger because sometimes they just toss it on the grill with the other burgers....gross!

I believe the onion bun at red robin is vegan. I read it somewhere once, which is great because it's my favorite <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="">

Thanks! I noticed many places do this substitution and I might consider adding them to my short list if they are the vegan ones. It might be tough to ask the waitstaff the specific ingredients- maybe have them bring out the box. But its wonderful that these places now do this- it is smart and might get them more business.

I was on my phone earlier and didn't have all my bookmarked information about the vegan options in front me but about Red Robin, the Onion Bun, Whole Grain Bun, and Yellow Seeded Bun is vegan. The endless steak fries are also vegan and the Red Robin Signature Seasoning is in a big container on the table so you can see all the ingredients and it's also vegan (and delicious! I wish they sold their seasoning). Also, I think the sauce is actually vegan, because it says it's a Dijon mustard which I've never checked but I'm pretty sure is vegan. I just doublechecked and the Red Robin menu says the name of the burger is "BOCA Original Vegan Burger" so it is the vegan version, but the Gardenburger looks like it has eggs so just be sure to ask for the Boca instead of just ordering a veggieburger. (I'm glad Red Robin is vegan friendly, I just wish they also had a Boca chik'n patty to substitute for their chicken sandwiches in addition to the burger substitution <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/tongue3.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="">). I've never heard of any other restaurants (besides a few in Disneyland) that have vegan Boca patties though, all the other ones seem to be Gardenburger, which isn't vegan, or the vegan Amy's burger.<br><br><br>
Also, does anyone know why Red Robin has the big Boca patties resembling the gourmet Red Robin burgers but the Boca ones sold in stores are the size of like a mcdonalds burger? I really wish I could find some of the bigger patties in stores, I got full half way through my Red Robin one and then had leftovers. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""> Sorry for going off topic but I keep wondering if Red Robin just special ordered them or if my store only carries some sort of smaller version of Boca's.

Yes. I've also seen big boxes of the larger burgers at one regular grocery store.<br><br>
Regarding the bun, I've decided this isn't something I'm going to worry about if the place has an otherwise vegan burger or sandwich. I think that's the point of diminishing returns for me. Although I was once served a sandwich with "no cheese or mayo" that had cheese baked all over the top of the bun! Duh...!

<p>I think it's great that Red Robin has vegan burgers and fries. It's a "normal" place that you can go to with omnivores and get a filling meal out of it!</p>
