greetings peeps!

so, everywhere i turn i see vegan foods that are supposed to be healthy and blah blah blah...

what about foods that taste good and are vegan.....and they are among the "normal" people's foods???

what i mean is that you go to the store and buy one of the following and know that they are vegan friendly:

sour patch kids

goldberg's peanut chews

skittles (uk brands)

so, what do you know of that is vegan friendly and is among the "normal" people's foods?

start the list and keep it going.

cool,

matthew j

ps - shout out to tofutti for making a bad ass cream cheese.

The best way to rot your teeth is vegan. Uncle joes mint balls!!! Well, I like them anyway. Even the sugar will satisfy the stricter vegans - it's fom tate & lyle, and they use limestone rather than bone char.

And as for "normal foods" I think we can include apple, orange, etc.

i think i need to redefine what i meant by "normal foods".

= foods that are not meant to be vegan, but are anyway....oh, and not organic, such as veges and fruits

dig?

Normal and vegan at the same time? I thought normal was vegan. *shock/amazement/bewilderment*

I'm just kidding, of course.

But what comes to my mind is:

El Pato

hot chili pepper mix (in the jars)

rice

quinoa

couscous

beans

olive oil

olives

onions

woops! You said "no fruits and veggies". Bad, Dee! Bad, Bad!

But as far as actual dishes go:

Chili

Shepherd's pie (use veggies for the "meat" and whip the potatos with veg broth instead of butter and cream)

Rice Bowls with frozen veggies (heat the frozens through, though)

Stir-fry

Grilled Veggies/fruit

pasta with a tomato-based sauce or veggies or both

spaghetti (see above)

As you can see, it's pretty hard naming vegan foods without naming fruits and veggies. That's almost like saying "Make mud, but don't use water and don't use dirt"
but here's what came to my mind anyway.

read labels to be sure....but here is some stuff off the top of my head:

- almost any kind of fruit juice out there

- a lot of cereals, namely cheerios, wheaties, most raisin brans, chex, kashi (not all though)

- all grains, ie oatmeal, rice, pasta (except egg noodles)

- most salad dressings (except cream-based ones, obviously)

- most breads (just check for honey or milk)

- saltines

- nuts

- raisins

- peanut butter

- jelly

okay this is getting annoying. anyway, you get the idea.

Everything I wanted to say about this topic has already been said, but to recap:

1. Vegan food is normal. Let's dispatch perceptions to the contrary forever.

2. Since when was candy considered normal food? It's junk food. And, unfortunately, I eat nearly as much junk food as a vegan as I did before I became so. At least it's cruelty free, and generally not as bad for me.
