I bought some Ecko ones a few years ago that I really like. The price was really reasonable (~$90 CDN for 3 sizes of pots + lids + a frying pan at a Corningware outlet store) but the pots are very heavy so they distribute heat nicely and they don't have any plastic on them so they're totally oven safe.
I use all-clad pans 'cuz I'm a snob that way. They're expensive but they totally rock. They distribute heat really evenly, are solidly built, easy to clean (if you don't get the copper-bottomed ones) and will last forever. If you only buy one at a time they're fairly affordable. I've been getting one or two a year and I've built up a nice collection without breaking the bank.
I also love my all-clad pots. I'm really picky about cooking gear, though. If you have gas burners you really want a really well built stainless steel set. You can get a smaller set to start, and then build upon it - that's what I'm doing.
I absolutely love my all-clad pans. I found a place online to get seconds. The savings is substantial and I have only found the smallest cosmetic flaw (sometimes not at all) on the things I have bought.

I buy my pots and pans a piece at a time, because the sets they have usually don't work for me....they have things I don't want or don't have things I want.

Anyway, here is the site for the all-clad seconds: http://cookwarenmore.com
