Okay....so I just thought it would be really cool to have a monthly recipe thing...similar to a book club. For instance, we all post the NAME of a recipe we have and perhaps describe what it tastes like and what we like about it.<br><br>
Then, we can post a poll in which everyone votes at the end of the month, and that's the recipe we all make! Then we can all post what we thought about it.<br><br><br><br>
Example.....<br><br>
First day of April......April 1st....begin listing recipe titles and what why we want everyone to try it.<br><br>
Beginning of the last week of April (20-29)....VOTE<br><br>
Last day of April......April 30......recipe with the most votes is the one we make.<br><br>
Then we have the entire month of May in which to make the recipe...giving everyone ample time to gain the ingredients and be prepared. Meanwhile...in May, we do the posting and voting all over again.

"Date and Nut Bread"<br><br><br><br>
This is a delicious moist yeast bread containing oranges, bananas, dates and nuts (of course). It makes about 3 loaves and freezes well. Very healthy using half whole wheat flour. Great for snacks and lunches.

Vegan Vichysoisse!<br><br><br><br>
this is a very simple soup to make, ideal for the warmer weather we should all be experiencing soon, because it is served cold! it's creamy and rich and made from potatoes and leeks, so it has a lovely, delicate flavour.

Thank you guys so much! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"> This is going to be fun.<br><br><br><br>
I forgot to say that when voting time comes.....you can't vote for your own recipe....'cause that wouldn't work if everyone voted for their own. LOL.

Apple-quinoa pudding. I make this recipe all the time, or whenever apple juice is in the house. I love it a lot, and it tastes great too.

Of course, I am wanting to second some of the suggestions already made.<br><br><br><br>
Mine is:<br><br>
Rice and Bean Roll-Ups<br><br><br><br>
I was going to suggest something raw, but realized that might not be popular. Let me know and I can suggest raw in the future.

Kreeli,<br><br>
I just got a dehydrator and am going to try some cookies or something this weekend. PM me with your address and you can be my official taster. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

sure thing cassie. I dunno if they'll let me post it here, (since we only give the names) so I'll post it on another thread that you'll read. I might even start a "quinoa fan club" despite the fact that I don't do much with quinoa besides make that pudding! lol

Hey Loki..why not post it here? The only reason for me saying that we don't have to post the entire recipes was because I didn't want everyone to feel that it was mandatory and that it might be too time consuming for them to post them everytime they wanted to post a "candidate". It sounds really good...and I've always wanted a good recipe for quinoa myself. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"><br><br><br><br>
veganchick....please suggest any recipe you want! I've heard that in place of using a dehydrator it is possible to set your oven at a certain low temperature (can't remember exact temp.)....do you know for sure if this is true? That way if your recipe needed a dehydrator and it won the "poll" then people who don't have a dehydrator could make it too. Hmmmm. I really like the idea of raw food.<br><br>
Plus, some people are bound to post vegetarian recipes that aren't vegan and us vegans can simply create them using vegan alternatives which I'm sure Kreeli would be the best at suggesting.

<b>Vegan "Cream" Sauce with Herbs</b><br><br>
This is a lovely recipe for serving over pasta or rice, or simply serving over sauteed vegetables. Wonderful with angel-hair pasta--just add spring vegetables, or try it with asparagus and portobello mushrooms for something more substantial. Nutritional yeast and ground mustard add body to the flavor. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

Here you go:<br><br><br><br><span style="text-decoration:underline;">Loki's Quinoa Pudding</span><br><br>
70g (3oz) quinoa<br><br>
35g (1 1/2 oz) raisins<br><br>
1 Cup apple juice<br><br>
1 tbsp lemon juice<br><br>
1 tsp vanilla extract<br><br>
1 tsp ground cinnamon<br><br><br><br>
Firstly, rinse the quinoa well. very well!! Then cook the quinoa in water. Use between half of a cup and one cup of water. If it doesn't fully cook, just add more. Once it's cooked, add the apple juice, raisins, lemon juice and vanilla. Allow it to boil, and keep stirring. Then, once it's a few minutes away from boiling dry,. add the cinnamon. If it looks a little pale, add more cinnamon if needs be. It should be a good brown colour. And let it boil dry, and you'll have this sticky mix of quinoa, which has a pleasant apple taste. It's quite sweet.<br><br><br><br>
And BTW, Herself, the ide aof spiced lentils with rice sounds quite attractive. I've found a stash of dried red lentils which I never knew we had, so I'm up for trying that one out.

Oh yum! I will want to try which ever recipe gets picked...they all sound great. I'll add one that I made this weekend:<br><br><br><br>
Chick Pea a la King. This is vegan and has a creamy sauce made with tofu, onion, nutritional yeast, etc. It has celery, green peas, and chick peas and it's served over toast, rice, or pasta. It's a yummy comfort food. We are a big dinner on the weekend and I've been eating the left-overs for lunch all week. It's yummy and easy to make.
