any other raw/living foodists here that might be able to give me some pointers i'm looking to take the plunge but i need to find a few staple foods which are easy to prepare and will not leave me malnourished. according to paul nissons "the raw life" just a single type of fruit is the ideal meal and below that is combining different types of fruit and then below that is combining fruit with specific vegetables, and below that is just vegetables.

i really like bannanas but i don't want to only live on them so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

also as the closest fully organic produce supermarket near me is about 35 minutes away i won't be able to go there every day (i work 12 hour days) and yet i noticed when i bought some organic bannanas after 2 days they had mold on them, any ideas for how to make them last longer?

thanks

If you're gonna pick one fruit, bananas are a good choice.

As for making them last longer, you don't have many options. Buy them a little green, and store them at room temp with lots of air circulating around them. If you store them in a bag or in the fridge, they will turn brown much more quickly. Once they get as ripe as you're willing to eat them, you'll want to peel and freeze them. I know a lot of raw foodists who blend their frozen bananas with filtered water, for a simple smoothie.

Another good single-fruit option (imho) is apples. I will eat 2 or 3 at a time, or juice a whole bunch of apples with a bit of ginger...

If you're gonna combine a vegetable with your fruit, I would recomend sunflower sprouts. I LOVE them!! and they go nicely with diced fruit for a salad. One of my favorite salads is sunflower sprouts, diced zucchini, diced apples or pears, and raw sunflower seeds. drizzle a bit of OJ over the whole thing... YUM!!
