Ever since I became vegan my goal was to be raw vegan. I have been a vegan for a year... since the beginning of September and yet have no success in becoming a fully raw vegan. I've done a few days where I was raw till 4 but that never stuck. Now, most of what I eat is raw because I'm just munching down on a bunch of fruits but then there are times when I get chipotle, or for example just had my first vegan pizza (not raw) last night and a bunch of grilled cheese and bacon. I refuse to give up because it's the lifestyle I wish to have. It feels great when I am eating only fruits. I feel high on life 24/7! Skin is great, I don't feel lazy and down all the time. I feel like that should be enough motivation but then I get curious on processed foods and chow them down. I used to suffer from binge eating. That's another reason why I want to eat raw... I can binge and not feel crappy about myself! ;)
Yet I still got daiya cheese. Which cheese is the most processed and gross thing ever (not the taste, the taste is delish)

Hey there, i totally understand about how you feel. When i started becoming a vegan., it was really easy and tempting to go back to my old diets. I felt my tongue has developed the needs to consume certain food which i have been eating for the past 20 something years of my life. It was like an addiction to drug.

I felt that the key to breaking through this hump, was to preserver. It is easier to be said than done, i needed a lot of support from friends and family, and back then internet and forums was not easily available to me. The breaking through point was at around the 18 months mark, which by then i no long felt the desire or temptation to going back to my old diet.

Right now, I have been vegan for 10 years.

Let us know your progress, and when you need motivation, come back to here! :)

It's always out there, the temptation to eat stuff that's not vegan and not raw. I was a vegetarian for 30 years before going vegan 10 years back, and I'm still trying to go raw vegan. The best way to look at it is maybe to think: I don't eat meat or derivatives, I don't eat fish or seafood, I don't eat dairy knowingly (this is tough, as if you eat out or eat ready meals it's hard to be certain, even if the packet or waiter assures you it is vegan) and I eat as much raw as I can each day. As you say, it's tough around mid-afternoon. I live in France, where traditionally, everyone is "programmed" to eat a snack ("gouter") around 4PM and if I'm around other people in town, it's hard to steel myself not to join them.
Here, the key problem is France is simply not yet ready for vegans, so eating out is a nightmare (I rarely do it, and then feel guilty about a "vegetarian exception"). The only way I've found to be raw vegan all day is stay at home (and have a wife who's also gone vegan and raw, to back me up!).
Good luck with your efforts, I'm sure it will be worth it for both of us when we get there!
a bientôt
Peter
