Heres my rant. I dont rant often, so when I do, Im usually pretty annoyed. At the office in which I work, a special luncheon had been planned for next week. Everyone here knows that I am a vegetarian, everyone. Its a small office, so everyone knows everything about everybody.

Where did they choose to go for lunch, you might ask. Ill tell you whereRed Lobster. Thats right, Red Lobster. I checked their lunch menu, and about the only thing I could eat there is a side salad, and those strange bun-like things they bring you while you wait for your food.

Before the other guests were invited, I pointed out to the people in my office that Red Lobster has nothing that I can eat. Did they decide to change venues? Nope. They went right on and called the other guests to let them know of the date, time and place.

Im so mad right now.

Call Red Lobster and see if they will fix you a veggie plate. They might surprise you. Can't hurt anything by asking.

Shamus, that really sucks!!

Maybe you can ring the Red Lobster and try to get them to organise something special there, explaining that it would mean allot because you have to go to the function there.

That seems pretty disrespectful of the ppl who continued the organisation even after you told them there was nothing you could eat there!! argh! people!!

Shamus--that totally sucks!

Are you talking about the cheddar biscuits they bring you? B/c I was told by a couple of people that those actually have crab or something in them, so they're not even vegetarian.

Boy, that really sucks! But it sure makes me feel good about my co-workers. One gal that worked there had a bbq last summer and I brought some garden burgers. She fixed 'em up for me withoutany question or funny looks and even scraped the grill first! Another is having a get together this weekend and was all worried about how she should accomodate me she didn't want to cross contaminate my food with everyone else's but she only has a small grill. I laughed and told her not to worry, I'll take care of mine, but it was so cool she was looking out for me!

Shamus, ditch them and come up to my place for lunch! We don't even have a Red Lobster up here!

(10 minutes after "coming out" as veg to my friends: [Me] "So, where should we go to eat?" [Them] "How about that new steakhouse?" [Me] "ARGHRHRGH!#%#%#&!!!!".)

the cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster do not have crab in them. I used to work at a RL as a prep cook :shudder: and I made the biscuits quite often. Just a standard baking mix with cheese mixed in.

I'm just sorry you have to endure the smell of the place.....

Shamus, I think you should bite them. Just don't draw blood.

Perhaps you could come into work tomorrow absolutely overflowing with glorious reports of this fantastic new restaurant (a veg*n one, but they don't have to know that), and they'll get so jealous they immediately call Red Lobster and cancel the reservations.

I have that problem too, but with some of my friends. At a party we had for one of my friends we got pizza (it was made at the place where one of my friends works and so they always clean the utensils for me) but the girls mother whose house we were having the party at ordered the pizza, and even though she was told that I didn't eat meat, she ordered all pepperoni anyway, and her daughter didn't stop her. I hadn't eaten that day, because she said they were having all kinds of stuff at the party, but it turned out jsut to be pizza and cake. And her mom said she wasn't going to order a special pizza for one person, and that I could just take off the pepperoni. All I was asking was that they get a cheese, everyone will eat cheese. There was no way I was going to pick off the pepperoni, that is disgusting to me. But another problem I have is that my friends ALWAYS make me pick the place to eat. They know where I can and can't eat and yet they use this as an excuse because they don't want to pick the place, and neither do I because I don't want to chose for a group of people. grrr...hehehe
