Hello all

I have a question about Montréal for those of you that have lived here for a while. My girlfriend and I are looking for a resturant that serves good vegetarian poutine. I know there are alot of recipes out there but we are looking for a resturant with veggie poutine. Anybody know a good place?
I havent tired it,but i found this place for you.

Maamm Bolduc\t 4351 De Lorimer.

If you want to call and ask them a question about it.514-527-3884.
Have you tasted the veggie poutine yet? I'm curious to find out how it tastes like!

Oh, where did you find it ?
I used St.Hubert Poutine Sauce, but only the packaged one, not the can. I think they have it at Maxi and Maxi Plus. Where can one find the ready-made one?
Actually they're not really "ready-made", it's powder, you gotta add water... I got them at Dollarama... hem ^^ they taste like regular brown sauce, said my friend.
If we're talking about vegan Poutine sauce:

1. St Hubert Poutine Sauce Mix - Vegan and Delicious

2. Club House Poutine Gravy Mix - Vegan and almost the equal of the St Hubert

3. French's Poutine Sauce - I don't have any right now, so I can't say but it's vegan for sure (I suspect it is). Thickest of the bunch, but less taste than the other two.

I have seen the French's at many Dollar Stores. The other two should be available at Maxi, Loeb, Loblaws, Sobey's, and even some dépanneurs. MMmmmm - frites et biere, c'est ci bon.

I'm in Ottawa, on the border of Quebec

I visit Quebec all the time because my bf is from Quebec City. I'm learning French too, I'm actually getting quite good!

We just ate at St. Hubert in Gatineau for supper today! I had the salade St. Hubert and the fries. Good salad! Artichoke hearts and palm hearts!

Thanks a lot Sketchy!

I also found a place in the Eaton Center (I think) that claims to use vegetarian sauce. I'll look it up and get back to you guys

Anyone been to La Cage aux Sports?

I got invited there but looking at the menu I don't really want to go, at least not to eat.
I paid a visit to Montrèal a week or so ago and was delighted to find several vegetarian restaurants there.

I put together a Google Map so that I can better visualize where they all are:

I took photos (with a real camera and film) and will provide reviews sometime in the future...

Here is info. on another really large Natural Food Store from http://www.living-foods.com/ Not sure if they are Vegan. However, worth checking it out. Please share experience if anyone here has been there. Thanks.

The biggest health food store in town I think. The upper level is for the cosmetics and health products, while the lower level is for the food, including a lot of organic fresh veggies and fruits.
Place Laurier in Quebec City (Ste-Foy) has a nice health food store, surprisingly called Aliments de Santé Laurier
. They have a nice selection of health and beauty products, as well as breads, pre-packaged vegan food, and produce. And they have lots and lots of non-vegan cheeses to tempt me
. It's the biggest (and only, actually) health food store I've seen in Quebec City.

This is a copy over from another forum for the benefit of all here ...

I am so excited to hear about vegan naan!! One place that hasn't been mentioned is La Sala Rosa, on Milton, which is vegetarian but vegan friendly. The service is slow but the vegan chocolate cake is delicious!

For people who don't know about it, Organic McGill is a co-op concept at McGill... during the year you can order a local organic veg basket for around $10 and pick it up the following week. Not _that_ cheap, but the difference between one of their leeks and one from the supermarket (for instance) is amazing. They also have ethiopian pastries for sale, which are all vegan. The sweet potato bread is amazing. Just amazing. My usual dilemma is whether I deserve one, because I usually just munch through the whole thing in a couple of hours. It runs in the Shatner building, second floor, and they also had a couple of cooking classes last year. Then of course there's Midnight Kitchen which serves vegan lunches every day for a nominal fee (pay $2 or whatever you want, bring your own tupperware). The food is food that would otherwise have gone to waste, so not gourmet, but the couple of times I've been there was a pretty decent beans + rice component. I believe Concordia has something similar called The People's Potato, although I've never been there.

For what it's worth, there's a smoothie place in Galeries du Parc which seems to serve a non-dairy smoothie (I haven't tried it yet but I asked about it once) and, since we were talking about Vegenaise long ago when I first joined the forums, I usually buy it at Eden (also Galeries du Parc). Bioterre (St Viateur) and Rachel Bery (St Laurent) also stock it, along with other goodies.

I am really glad this thread came up - there are places I haven't even been! And I second all the Chuch obsessing... sadly I almost always order the same thing when I go there At Aux Vivres you can also buy their veg butter and dragon sauce etc (the dragon bowl is my favourite)in bulk in containers which are made of corn starch and therefore compostable.
