I know that propolis is a bee product but is it always derived in this way? Where I work we have some Faith in Nature shampoos and one is Neem and Propolis, but I was surprised to see it said 'vegan' on the side. It doesn't say the source of the propolis as some things do but it does say 'all ingredients are vegetable-based apart from the propolis'. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Strange.

Aparantly (according to Vegan Society) only: E120 - cochineal, E542 - edible bone phosphate, E631 - sodium 5'-inosinate, E901 - beeswax, E904 - shellac, calcium mesoinositol, hexaphosphate, lactose & sperm oil/spermaceti can never be vegan.

....therefore it seems that as Propolis is only 'Possibly Animal-Derived', along with bee pollen, bee venom, honey, propolis, royal jelly, it can therefore be vegan.

Weird! Anyone know of any vegan honey then..?

Some companies consider bee products to be vegan. I would inquire with the company.

I have never heard of a company with that philosophy froggy.

We have several of their products currently. They're free from petrochemicals, and are good quality. I dig the company, and will make sure to let them know that I'm a valued customer when I contact them tomorrow to express my displeasure.

I think there might have been two different ones with different packaging and I think one of them didn't have the word vegan on, so it could be that they've changed it now but we still have some of the ones with the older packaging. I didn't have too much time to look as I was at work...
