Hey ladies! For those who have been or are pregnant: How long after your period was due did you get a positive preg test? And, did you get any false negatives from taking one early? Waiting to take one and curious!! Thanks

for OTC tests, there are typically no false positives, just false negatives. that is, if the test says you're pregnant, you're pregnant; but if the test says you're not pregnant, you still might be pregnant.

there are two kinds of OTC tests--early detection and regular. Early detection tests can tell right around when you'll get your period. regular usually within a few days after you would get your period. Both can give false negatives.

with my daughter, i took a test about 3days late and it showed up positive. with my first pregnancy (before my daughter) i took two at home a week late both positive and then the hospital told me that i wasn't. it turned out positive for them the next day. for this pregnancy took the test three days before pd and it was bright and shining positive. i think that was an early detection one.

Took a HPT when I was two days late, both times accurate (positive). The first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, hence the fact that I have only one child now in case you were wondering.

Thanks, that's about what I thought. I had originally tested about 3-4 days after period was due and got a negative. Than my mom tells me she never tested positive until 1-2 weeks after AF was due, and I had all the symptoms (sore boobs, a lot of nausea and a little vomitting, etc.). But, I think I might finally be getting my period (two weeks late). If not I will retest this weekend. Thanks for the info!

a period that is twu weeks late, accompanied by a lot of other symptoms (a long period, for example, with extreme "PMS" like symptoms) could be a early first trimester miscarriage.

that was my process. though i never took a pregnancy test, so i can't say for certain, but yeah.

i took a test on the day that i was supposed to have my period...

i just knew i was pregnant...i could feel it...

and...it was positive!

I didn't really know if I was pregnant because my period has pretty much always been irregular. Something felt different and it had been a while since I had had my period (7+ weeks), so I went and bought a package of pregnancy tests just to be sure. Sure enough, it was positive. I waited a few days and took another one to make sure there wasn't a mistake and it was positive again, so I called and made a doctor's appointment.
