hey ladies....i've been battling with this forever, and i'm wondering if there is any way that i can prevent it...every month like clockwork, a week before my period starts i just cant stop eating...i feel like i eat everything under the sun, lol and then when i actually start my period i hardly have an appetite. its so crazy 'cuz i make plans, and i'm like okay i will not eat this way, but before i know it i'm puttin away food...i just cant seem to catch the binge before it starts....anyone else go thru this???
I suddenly get the idea in my head to dip pickled okra into chocolate...or something similar.
Last night, I had fried broccoli...battered.
It generally tastes REALLY GOOD while I'm craving it...but a few weeks later, it's gross. So odd. A few have turned out pretty good, like my spaghetti sandwich, and my rice ball (like fried rice, but it looks like a soccerball, and you have to cut it up to serve it).
When I get home this morning...I'm having warm chick peas with maple syrup!!!
I get hungry as soon as I start menstruating, not before. It's probably the body's way of regenerating as your endometrium sheds and you need to get ready for next month.
I'm all for giving in to cravings (within limits) - if your body decides it needs chocolate covered gherkins or whatever, then there is probably some reason for it!
I eat anything that isn't nailed down and I'm horny as hell. I'm that way for about a week right before my period. It takes me a couple of days every time to realize, "Oh...that explains it!"
The best p.m.s. snack I've found is the Take 5 candy bar. Okay, it's not vegan, but...
I think the yummy alternative is pretzel sticks dipped in vegan frosting.
I'm the same. Realized the other day it's been going on every month for 20 years and I still sometimes have to actually get my period before I figure out what's going on. "Why the hell do I keep wanting cookies dammit!?! .....Ooooooh."
I finally figured out that one of the reasons why I wanted to eat anything not nailed down was that I am extra tired the week before my period starts. And, when I'm tired, I have a tendency to eat.
Yeah, I eat constantly pre-period. I see it as a good excuse to be a fat pig for a week....."I want ice cream (soy of course!), but I'm not hungry, I don't NEED the ice cream---but I AM about to start my period so it's okay to eat anything and everything....."
Haha, I have the exact same problem!! It's really annoying though, because I need to lose weight (really actually do) and every time that time of the month comes around, I eat EVERYTHING I can in the house. It's terrible. I've started to try to eat smaller more healthy things (I can come home from school and eat a three course meal if I could).
I recently started to get into smoothies, which take me like 10 minutes to prepare (I'm slow
) and are comprised of mostly fresh fruits and soymilk, and then it takes me a long time to drink it because I like to savor the flavor. IDK, but it's definitely better than eating a fake-chicken sandwich topped with mayonaise and ketchup with french fries on the side. XD

Abberant Bliss, you're lucky you can drink a smoothie slowly. I am always so enamored with the flavor that I suck it back so quickly I simultaneously get a brain freeze and a tummy ache!
