I was talking to someone today who knows I've been vegan for years and they said something about "you're vegan, you can't eat anything BUT healthy food".<br><br><br><br>
I wasn't sure about correcting this myth, but I did anyway.

Teehee. Love it. I always mention that eating healthy is a side effect of my vegetarianism... but not the reason for it.

Sometimes people would look at me amazed: "Oh, you eat this, too!" Meaning, hey, I´m catching you eatingsomething unhealthy.

My favorite positive veg*n myth is that veg*ns taste better. LOL. I haven't done the necessary research to prove or disprove this theory so for me, it remains a myth.

Years ago I was one of those people who thought Vegans were angry all the time because they could never eat anything.<br><br>
My husband used to work in this healthy bakery and all these angry Vegans would come in and ask a thousand questions about what was in the Black Bean burrito, hold up the line, be grumpy and impossible, then after 10 minutes say they didn't want it anyway.<br><br><br><br>
So that was my first idea of a Vegan--grumpy and impossible.<br><br><br><br>
Now I know a bunch of cool vegans, and more and more think it's great to be able to give up meat AND dairy and still remain a cool and happy person.<br><br>
I don't know where all those angry vegans came from! The Twilight Zone I presume.

The two opposing theories I have heard that always make me laugh are "Veg*an poo smells heaps worse", and "Veg*an poo doesn't smell nearly as bad" (as omni's, that is). Uh.. not testing this one out.

my favorite is when you tell someone you don't eat any animal products, watch them rattle off a list of what this entails in their brains, then look at you and empathetically reply "poor thing."<br><br>
i am always tempted to ask them why that sympathy doesn't extend to the cow they just ate.

Vegetarianism is about health if you do it for health reasons. I do it for the animals, so I don't care if its got enough sugar to give me diabetes - I'm eating it!! (As long as it dosn't contain gelatin, carmine etc.)<br><br><br><br>
One of my friends said to me "I bet it's relaly good for you, because you can load up on unhealthy food all the tiem, and it doesn't matter because your vegetarian, so you balance it out because you eat healthy anyway." So this guy views vegetarianism as healthy, which is pretty cool.
