So, anyone in the Chicagoland area should know about portillos. Well, I was in the presence of omnis and had to make a stop there. I was going to get fries but no doubt they were fried in animal based oils. I then saw they had a meatless category on their menu and got excited. The only problem was that two out of their three meatless sandwiches were tuna and halibut, and the vegetable sandwich had mozerella (contains rennet) on it! Is there no place my eating habits can call home?

Do you live in Chicago?? That's one big vegan friendly city! Are you having problems finding places to eat?

no, i'm in the chicagoland area. Chicago is about an hour away from my house. I love their veg*n options out there but can't really afford the drive too often.

Randa, what part of the metro are you in? I've been all over, from way up in Winnetka, down to South Holland and Joliet. Only once have I thought I might starve (and that was at some freaky steakhouse we took my Grandma to).

May I ask how you found out the mozzarella has animal rennet? I'm trying to research their cheese but they don't go into the specifics on their website.
