Not sure if it's already been posted by this **** makes me embarrassed to be Canadian. Caribou population decimated by tar sands destroying natural habitat soooooo were going to kill off the wolves that prey on caribou by shooting them from helicopters or with:<br><br>
"Strychnine is a deadly poison known for an excruciating death that progresses painfully from muscle spasms to convulsions to suffocation, over a period of hours."<br><br><a href="http://thinkprogress.org/romm/2012/02/06/419563/canadian-government-poisoning-wolves-to-address-dwindling-caribou-population-near-tar-sands/" target="_blank">http://thinkprogress.org/romm/2012/0...ear-tar-sands/</a><br><br>
This looks like a job for CAPTAIN HINDSIGHT!!!

Ranchers and hunters hate wolves, for the most part, and have historically sought to "punish" them by killing them in the most painful ways possible. In the olden days people would capture a wolf, wire its mouth shut, and set it free again to starve.

Really!?!? Shooting/poisoning I can see as common practice, but I don't quite buy that capturing and wiring mouths shut was widespread or happened hardly at all for that matter. That there were some isolated cases I have no doubt.

I just read the other thread about the fur trapper and thought it was something out of a novel during the 18 th century.<br><br>
I didn't realise that this barbarious way of trapping animals still existed. I know all about those poor baby seals that are slaughtered in Quebec every spring and just can't understand that the Canadian goverment doesn't put a stop to this. Despite protesting and signing petitions what can we do to help ?<br><br>
The poor wolves have a right to live too - prehaps it is the people that should move out of their terroritry. Using poisin and wiring their jaws is just inbelievable.<br><br>
I have been to Canada many times and the people are so pleasant and easy going. Can't they contact their local MP's and start petitions ?
