I've edited the thread title to be more specific. Please everyone try to remember to avoid vague thread titles. Also, The Fall, could you give us a brief summary of the video. I can't watch it at work yet, and I'm sure more people would click the link if they knew what website they were visiting.

Sorry but I can't offer anything. The purpose of the video is to take you off guard and make you think. If people choose to distrust the link and not click it then they are really missing out. But I wouldn't want to spoil it. I CAN, however, tell you it's about 5 minutes long and contains no gore. Though it is a bit shocking.

It's not even showing up for me. It just says "6.369" in big letters.

EDIT: Never mind, refreshed the page and it's showing up now. Interesting video. It's done very professionally, I was surprised that it was a couple of film students that made it

Here's the youtube link. The other one is for their web site and the video is in HD. I have no problem loading it but my PC is also crazy updated.

I'm pretty sure the animals in nature don't miss us. We've hunted them down and used them whenever possible. To phrase it as they miss us seems silly. Even in the video it seems more likely that an urbanized person might want to get to some sort of nature, but no way is a deer going to want him there. Anyone who isn't sure can take a stroll over to the ILT forum and read the perspective of people who don't even think animals are conscious.

Way to miss the point entirely. While we're at it, we also may as well point out that deer don't talk.

The deer was a symbol. The police officer was pulled out of his urbanized life for a moment to witness something serine and beautiful, something lost and forgotten. And in an instant it was smote by the unnatural world we built around ourselves. We've drifted so far from nature in our current society. It would benefit everyone and everything to spend more time with the natural world. This video is promoting activism and action.

I'm just guessing, but I don't think VB users are the target audience. I haven't seen the video yet because it sounds like it might make me cry and I don't want to cry. But I'm pretty sure that it's about animals and most VB members "get it" when it comes to most animal issues, you know what I mean? We're not the ones who need to see this stuff.

Yeah, it just didn't make that point to me.

And I don't really like individual animals as symbols of nature calling to us to come join them in their habitat. We screw it up every time and they end up getting hurt and killed for our whims (let's build a home out in this undeveloped area, so we can "get away from it all," and kill and displace lots of animals to do it...). In fact, I absolutely believe that humans ought to condense themselves in cities and leave the wild animals in peace in what little wilderness they have left. If there were fewer of us and we were willing to practice relative nonharm of other animals even when we didn't get what we wanted or suffered for it, then it would be different.

There's a whole movement now to explore our more "primitivist" selves and get back to nature...it involves hunting, trapping, and other abuses of animals.

I mean, I don't mean to take away from your experience, and I know sometimes that we want to share something and have others like it as much as we did, and that was really nice of you, but you asked us to share our thoughts, so that was my impression.

I don't get it. Does it want me to go camping or something?

I know. I was just debating back at you. Sorry if it came across rude. I've of southern and Italian heritage, so I have an attitude problem.

I really can't believe there wasn't any positive feedback to watching this video. It's really making me think...

Ok, I've watched it. I didn't think it was anything special. To me, it seems to just be a reminder that sometimes we need to step back from our human society and get back in touch with a bigger world. I don't really know what the makers intended us to get out of it. Is it a call for us to abandon our civilization altogether and return to a place where we are closer with nature? Is it about environmentalism? Animal issues?

Just as a warning for people, there is a depiction of a deer being hit by a car. It's not real, but I'm sure it will be disturbing for some people.

No, you weren't being rude. It just occurred to me how disappointing it is when you really like something, and share it with people, and they aren't that into it. Several times I've had that experience with music - sharing some piece of music that I loved and that was really meaningful to me, and the person I shared it with wasn't impressed. It can kind of make you not want to share things like that anymore... Re. your last statement, some other people's responses don't mean that it's not meaningful...it's nice that you wanted to share something that you liked.

I'm really into how it was put together, maybe not necessarily getting the message exactly, but i really did like how artsy or whatever it was.

If that's the point it was making, it was lost on me. I just thought it was a bit weird.

I actually did get this point. That it is basically nature missing us

and i must say i do think the animals miss the humans of the past. they did hunt them but they sure did way less damage than we do now

Okay, if people are afraid to watch it, it's really not that graphic. To sum it up,

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
This cop is in a crowded city scene, something obviously happened, and he sees a deer in the middle of it all. He walks up closer to the deer and it says "We miss you," then proceeds to calmly get itself hit by a car. It's just a smack, no graphic footage or anything.

I liked the video, very creative. Their point is kind of foggy but I think I get it.
