The band The Firm from the 1980s. They had the single Star Trekkin', and the album Serious Fun.

I still have that album on tape.... it's a classic.

So. Anyone?

Wasn't Paul Rogers from Bad Company and Jimmy Page from Zeppelin in that band? Or am I thinking of someone else? Didn't they have a song called "Radioactive"?

ack... now fish heads is running through my head, too!

The best was when Dr. Demento played all the stuff from the Transformed Man. William Shatner singing is just an odd experience.

"and Jimmy Page from Zeppelin in that band? "

I have always heard that he was (but I never investigated the Firm at all)

"Nothing beats Shatner singing "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds"."

Possibly him singing "Mr Tambourine Man" ;-)

Or one off Nimoy's album ;-)

Yikes... didn't Nimoy come out with several albums? At least Shatner knew when to stop.

While I agree with Tame that nothing beats Shatner's "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" (it's sick, but I love that version), Nimoy's "Proud Mary" is equally, uh, distressing.
And then there's "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins" --

Oh, good gravy. I forgot about "The Legend of Bilbo Baggins". My goodness.

"Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was just so...so...so Shatner-esque. Until I heard his version, I did not know it was possible to overact in a song. Amazing.

When I first heard it, I thought someone was imitating Shatner singing a song. I know drugs were prevalent in the 70s, but for crying out loud Bill, on my worst night I would have known that was a bad idea.
