I'm cross-posting this from Animal Rights Community Online (w/permission). A much-beloved Austr. cattledog has been dog-knapped by the (abusive) former owner, who had been forced to sign him over to this family. They have posted rewards, notified police, plastered every possible place with flyers, and even have quite a lot of specific info on the culprit. They sound desperate (the daughter refused to eat for a week). Please take a look at the descriptions especially if you live anywhere near BC (Canada)!

*Australian Cattle Dog ( Blue Heeler)

*Blue in colour (dark grey/white/ tan feet)

*Neutered male

*Piece missing from his tongue (front)

*Answers to Blueberry, Blue or Berry

The male that took Blue is a white male, small/medium build, reddish very short hair, ROB (or ROD) Spencer, green chysler?

PLEASE PLEASE if you see our dog PM me IMMEDIATELY.

She sounds like a very dedicated pet owner, so I wish her the best of luck in her search and hope she finds Blue very soon. The microchip and tattoo will undoubtedly help!

This guy isn't likely to have gone far with the dog, so I'd still focus efforts locally. (An abusive pet owner isn't likely to travel way out of their way to get an animal). Has she called all the R Spencer's in the area?

yes, and she postered those neighborhoods heavily. also tracked down the car, which is registered to someone else, and lots of other things I never would have thought of. She even talked to a real estate agent about moving, once they find him again, but is waiting in case he breaks free and comes home! That's how it all started, the dog used to come scratching at their door all the time, until they got the guy to sign him over.

His ex-roommate said he owes him a lot of $$ and probably wants to breed him. When he figures out he can't b/c of course he's now neutered, maybe one of the reward offers will entice him. Or since he's such a healthy dog, maybe he'll sell him, and the new owner will realize what has happened.

I think two big advantages are that he has a distinctive, easily seen mark (notched tongue) and there are some burly bikers who know his name & are incensed b/c the daughter is so upset! One of them must have a little girl, too.

Anyway, I'm so impressed by their dedication, and thought this might help.
