I live right outside "The Burg" (hehe--Harrisburg). It's not exactly the MOST forward area, but it's decent. You should have no problem eating veg*n meals here. I'd reccommend Passage to India, which has a lot of vegetarian stuff. It has indian food (duh). Also, there's a vegetarian restaurant called Avatars open occasionally for lunch in Mechanicsburg, I think. I've never eaten there but I hear it's nice. I would call ahead to make sure they're open and there are seats. (I put in that entry for Genesee t happycow.net by the way, it's a cute little HFS with friendly staff and a homey feel). There's also a good HFS called the Healthy Grocer on Trindle Road on the west shore of the Harrisburg area(which isn't really Harrisburg). It has a lot of stuff. It's pretty big, and they have fresh soups and sandiwches and salads and side dishes and baked goods, and a LOT of it is vegan--and REALLY tasty. It's got nearly anything you could want, I find.

You'll want to look in the phone book when you get here--a lot of the restaurants in the menu section of the yellow book have vegetarian offerings, and not crappy stuff either.

That's about all I can think of to say. Oh yeah, and the Harrisburg area has its own vegetarian group--which I haven't joined yet--called Green Street Vegetarian. They might be able to give you some info if you contact them. Their website is http://www.greenstreetvc.com/index.html .

If you have any more questions, you can just send me an email at vegancherrypie at hotmail dot com (except don't spell out at and dot, I just put it like that so those evil scanner things don't pick it up and send it to spammers). I'll be more than happy to help you!

I've never been to western Pa., is that where Sharon is? There's lots of good shopping around Philly, if you ever get the chance to come out further east, New Hope is one of my favorite places.

I dont suppose anyone lives in the lehigh valley, or the poconos ( I can understand why you wouldnt! HA) I grew up in Levittown right outside philly, so I know a lot of places there, but now I live up near the poconos and there isnt ANYONE here! Well, I guess it was worth a shot to ask, anyways...

I suppose it's about time I popped my head in here - I live somewhere inbetween nowhere and the middle of nowhere. I'm in Danville, which is this tiny little town which is "famous" for producing the first T-rail (some railroad thing, don't ask me). I'm about 20 minutes from Bucknell and 40 minutes from Susquehanna University, if that helps. Oh, and I'm right by the Bloomsburg Fair. Other than that, not much goes on around here. Lucky city people....

wow, so many from PA, NJ, De, and Oh.

my family lives in stroudsburg (my mom and dad at least), and i'm going up there for christmas. . .

this is crazy. i've never been to this forum before. heheheheh.

seriously, we should do a meet at the studio. lots of space, and it's a nice place to hang out. And apparently (other than you OH, far western Pa-ians), about 45 minutes from everyone.
