Where are you moving to Max? I've been all around the city. I've lived at 44th and Walnut, 10th and Pine, 39th and Lancaster( at the Killtime, they have some good shows) 48th and Walton, and 19th and Catherine. You drink right? Have you ever been to the little store on 10th and Pine, The Foodery? Best selection of beer around, lots of really good imports.

I use to work at an Irish bar on 20th and Walnut called The Bards. It's a great place ( except late weekend nights, unless you're into drunk Warton students...shivers)check it out if you're looking for an unpretentious bar. I miss the Foddery, my favorites are the big ol' Quebecer beers, La Fin Du Monde and Maudite, quality AND quantity. But they have all kinds, plus, you can mix sixes. Some other great bars in Center City/Old City area in case you're interested- Fergies, Tattooed Moms, Sugar Moms, Chaucers and Doobies.

There are some great places in Chinatown. Singapore is defenitly one of the best (9th and Race, or in that vicinity ). What type of food are you looking for, or in what part of the city, maybe I could help you more.

I've never been to western Pa., is that where Sharon is? There's lots of good shopping around Philly, if you ever get the chance to come out further east, New Hope is one of my favorite places.

you wanna wait until after jan snows? or do you want to do it soon?

man. . .i was at su tao just last nite with my mom and dad! Also, if we're going to do this veggie pot luck, i'll advertise it too. If we wait til march, we can advertise it in Yoga Living Magazine.
That might be a good time (after Jan). Maybe the weather will work out and all this holiday stuff will be out of the way. I think it would be a lot of fun!

It doesn't expire until 2007. Sutao is a Chinese vegan restraunt in Malvern
PM me if you're intersted!

It was $8 and I only ate a few bites ... I definitely won't be returning there again.

I love Empress Gardens on 4th(?) and South ... it's always my first stop when I'm on South Street.

<<<Plus there RUDE & ARROGANT AND THINK THEY THEY ARE THERE FOR YOU AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

I was a VERY GOO Dcustomer of theirs a few years ago, and I always ask them if the cheese was vegan, becuase I did not believe it. They hated that I asked them, but when someone gets defensive you know they are lying.

Everyone get the hint? I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN AND I MAKE SURE I TELL EVERYONE>>>
Veggiebelly, If you like Golden Empress, have you ever been to Guo's Garden on 113 in Exton? Their menu is exactly the same and they are very nice and veg-concious there. We actually just got some take out from the there tonight

I've been really disappointed with SuTao lately. The last few times we've been there, the food's been horrible, and cold. This was during hte dinner buffet too
We won't be going back for a while- too many tummy troubles afterward and my husband hates the waiter that gawks at girl's boobs.

Going to NY City next week and will be hitting my favorite place and a few others. 4 days in NY with all the excellent vegan restaurants = lots of food! Good thing it's a fitness convention!
No, we haven't gone yet. I'm waiting for the weather to be a little warmer so we can stroll around town a bit and stuff. I'll definately PM you before coming to that area so that we can maybe all meet up

Punkmommy,

I have not been to Guo's Garden, but thanks for telling me about it! Is it in a certain shopping center so I can find it more easily?

I will be moving somewhere around the Malvern area in the next couple of months and need all the info I can get! I'm still learning about the area.

I just ate at Empress again last night and the Sesame "Chicken" was AWESOME.

I was also disappointed at SuTao the last time I was there. I thought the waiter (maybe the same one you were talking about?) was really rude. The food didn't quite do it for me, either.

I'm a little late responding, sorry! Guo's Garden is on 113 South between Rt. 100 and Rt 30 It's kinda between the Regal Theatre and the Hampton Inn. It's a tiny little strip of businesses. Their address is Plaza 113, 569 West Uwchlan, Exton-Lionville ( as though that helps a lot! ) Their phone # is 610-524-7178. If you need any other names of hfs or anything, let me know- I think I know them all in this area

No problem! I would absolutely love it if you'd give me info on the health food stores in the area ... I was at Trader Joe's last weekend in Wayne but let me know about the others!

If there are any other veg restaurants in the area I'd love to know about them, as well.

Thanks for the information! I can't wait to move.
Ok, here's my list!

Kimberton Whole Foods- there are 2 locations, 1 in Kimberton,Pa ( north on 113) and 1 in Downingtown, PA. I go the one in Downingtown at least 1x a week- their website is kimbertonwholefoods.com if you need directions and stuff. They have organic veggies and fruits too. The Kimberton location has a cafe with some vegetarian and vegan items.

Great Pumpkin- West Chester on Market street ( going out of town). No produce or veggies, but they do have a good selection of vegetarian and vegan items.

Lionville Natural Pharmacy- On Pottstown Pike in Lionville. They have an actual natural pharmacy ( I haven't used it) and lots of supplements. They also carrry some vegetarian pantry staples and dry goods. There's a little cafe attached, but there's nothing vegan there

Wegman's - Downingtown on Rt. 30- huge grocery store, they have a decent size natural foods section with just about every flavor of Soy Delicious imaginable

Fresh Fields- Paoli on Rt. 30 Organic veggies and fruits, just like a regular grocery store but with natural food items and stuff

Devi Restraunt in the Whiteland Town Center shopping center located in Exton at Rt. 100 and Rt.30. Haven't been there, but it's an Indian Vegetarian Restraunt ( heard it's expensive).

Hunan Chinese Restraunt- West Chester . I won't go there anymore ( haven't since I was pregnant a long time ago! ) They do have a vegetarian menu, but I think the veg items are cooked with meat products ( or at least use to be -bleah)

Mediterranian Restraunt on Gay St. in West Chester. Not a veg place, but do have many vegetarian items- they have some awesome falafel
It's BYOB

If I can think of more, I'll let you know! Happy eating!
