I have a wonderful relationship with my partner. I'm a veggie and he is not. He does most of the cooking (what can I say...his meals are amazing!) and all the meals he cooks are veggie. While he does eat meat he rarely cooks it at home and only eats it when we go for a night out. He is slowly becoming more and more veggie but you can't force someone to make the final leap. The problem is that when he eats beef I can smell it on his breath for days afterward. Even after brushing his teeth or chewing gum. I realize that I'm smelling his body digesting his meaty meal. So what in the world can I do? The smell makes me sick. Is there anyone else with a omni partner who has run into this problem? Does anyone know if chewing and swallowing mint leaves would help? *sigh*

I never had that issue with any guy I've dated, and they've all been omni & I've been veg for years & years. I have two guesses. 1. you're imagining it, and it's mind over matter; or 2. your partner just has bad breath, and you're attributing it to the meat instead of him just being funky.

It's been proven that your body will carry different scents regarding different foods that you eat. So it is entirely possible that she is smelling his carnivorous smells literally seeping from his pores.

Some have postulated that certain herbivore prey animals may use this as another means of defense, to tell if that unknown animal next to them is another herbivore or a predatory carnivore. I'm not sure of the validity of this however as the evidence I've seen is pretty much hearsay - but it is entirely possible.
