Not sure if this has already been posted before but just wanted to know if anyone had a few fav. musicals, etc. I have a weird mix, but I LOVE Farinelli-I just ordered the soundtrack and of course Cabaret! But I have to mention Grease and of course I have the sound tracks! I think the weirdest one I like is a Broadway Musical called Assassians. It's great I listen to it all the time!

Yeah, my 42nd Street thread turned into this, but this will make much more sense!

My favorite opera is Cosi Fan Tutti, but no one around here is doing it this year. They are doing The Marriage of Figaro, though, so all should be well.

Assassins is weird but good. Sondheim rocks my socks.

My favourite musicals: Aida, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Tick Tick Boom, Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Rocky Horror Show, The Music Man, The Lion King, Cabaret, Into The Woods, Urinetown, and (drumroll) RENT. RENT is my first and favourite musical of all time. I don't hesitate to say that it completely changed my life and convinced me that musical theatre is what I want to do with my life.

'Hair' is my alltime favourite. I like 'Godspell' and Im ashamed to say i like a few ALWebber musicals *shudder*. But my fave is 'Hair'. I saw it when i was about 17 and fell in love with the energy, the songs and the characters, especially Claude (& aussie Justin Connor who played him. Where is he now??)

*sigh* I havent seen a stage musical in many years.

Okay, let's see... my favorite musicals are probably "Man of La Mancha" "Barnum" "The Student Prince" "Music Man" "Sound of Music" "South Pacific" "The Fantasticks" "Godspell" "Joseph" "42nd Street" "A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum" "Les Mis" "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" "Chicago" "West Side Story" and "Fiddler on the Roof" in no particular order.

I've heard the soundtrack to "Rent" and I didn't like it. I like "La Bohemme" though.

I generally either love musicals or hate them, so there's only a handful that I ever listen to. "Hair," "Rent," "Grease," "Chicago," "Pippin," "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," "Rocky Horror Picture Show," and "My Fair Lady" are the only ones I can think of that I like.

The Scarlet Pimpernel is my favorite Broadway show, and it's the only professional production I've ever seen.

My best friend was in musical theatre in college, and I saw a few of her shows, and I enjoyed all of them. She was in Company, 1776, and several others, although I didn't get to see them all.

I love musical movies, too...like Chicago and Moulin Rouge. ^^

I love basically anything... (Okay, so that's not really true. Oh, well! I love lots of stuff!) Here are my all-time favorites.

Musical: "Sweeney Todd" (ahhhh, Sondheim) and "West Side Story" (ahhhh, Bernstein, lol)

Opera: close between Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and "Figaro," though I also LOVE Puccini and all of the other Mozart operas... For a little early opera I like Pergolesi's "La Serva Padrona" and Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas."

Les Mis and The Secret Garden were always my favourite. The last thing I saw on broadway (i live 30 min outside the city... so i'm fortunate there!) was A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg. Not a musical tho, still fantastic, with Eddie Izzard, which is why I went and saw it. I adore him.

I wasn't terribly impressed by rent either. It felt too preachy or something, I don't know. Randy - how would you be able to put that on if its already playing on broadway? I thought there were laws governing what could and could not be put on at the same time...
