Welcome, I am new and live in North Carolina also. I became vegetarian because of my beliefs, not my health, though. I have been vegetarian since 1997 when I realized what was really in a hamburger. Since then, I have tried to become vegan many times and failed dreadfully. I did, though, manage to wean off milk and ice cream. Cheese, though, is really hard. My community doesn't have much support for vegetarians which makes it really hard. It seems that North Carolina is blind to animals and their suffering. If only we could make them see.........

Welcome to VB! maybe you should check out the 'weaning off dairy' thread and the 'anyopne going vegan?' thread (both in the Vegan Forum) if you're still interested in cutting out dairy <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">
