Ok, I admit it, I was wrong

Allright, I went to Whole Foods Friday and I'm saying this right now, you guys were right and I was wrong. The prices were pretty reasonable, the produce is still too expensive, but a lot of the other things were reasonably priced. Lots more selection too. I'll definitely go back.

I <3 Whole foods.

Did they have lobster tanks?

I've never noticed a lobster tank at Whole Foods. Is that common?

Well there was a news article about how they removed their lobster tanks, so they at least used to have them.

In June the natural-foods retailer said it would stop selling live lobsters and crabs since they could not be handled humanely (see item #2: http://tinyurl.com/2ub3dd ). However, it says the Maine store is close enough to lobster catching areas for its standards to be met. Whole Foods is contracting with Little Bay Lobster Co., of New Hampshire, for lobsters caught off of Maine. The company will use individual holding compartments to reduce stress. At the store, lobsters are to be kept in private compartments rather than together in a tank, and they will be electrocuted rather than boiled alive.

It is definitely very unfortunate that whole foods has lobster tanks at all. However, I have yet to find a completely vegetarian/vegan grocery in my area, so anywhere I shop will have meat available (which sucks). I would go to a vegetarian grocery in a heartbeat if I could find one, but for the time being, Whole Foods has one of the best vegan selections I've yet to see.

Yeah, it just depends what you are looking for. Take for example my favorite cereal...Ezekiel 4:9 cereal. A Hy-Vee near by sells it for about six bucks a box. Whole Foods not that far away sells it for under four bucks a box, and $3.50 a box on sale. That's just one example.

There are some things that are higher, but overall they are pretty reasonable on many, many items.

There aren't any completely 100% vegetarian stores around anywhere that I can think of. Least not here. I guess Trader Joe's apparently is, but don't have one of those here. The WF's here has a relatively small meat section, as does the Wild Oats store.

Trader Joe's is definately not vegetarian. We have a small chain of vegetarian stores here in STL ... I think they're called The Natural Way. They are tiny little places, but I've found unusual items there.
Ok, so most stores won't have lobsters because they can't be handled humanely, but the one store will have lobsters and they will electrocute them? Do they consider that humane?

I guess I can't talk too much... the only places here to grocery shop at are Wal-Mart (with the 'live' (obviously using that term lightly) fish department), Publix, and Winn Dixie. I had never heard of a Trader Joes or Whole Foods store until I came here.

I wasn't sure if Trader Joe's was or not.
Stop bragging that you're cool enough to have Whole Foods

I admit, I have Trader Joe's and Henry's, but WFM is AWESOME. Closest one is about 30 miles away. Boo!

I bookmarked it. They have some really awesome stuff. Good prices too.
I have to drive to Wilkingsburg (A dangerous part of Pittsburgh) in order to go to Whole Foods. Bah! I want one nearer!

haha, it's okay.
I heard that they're building a Henry's right by my house so I don't have to drive so far. I'm so happy about that! I heard that Whole Foods is buying out Wild Oats, which is what Henry's is. When I went into the WFM in San Diego, CA, I felt like I died and went to heaven. While TJ and Henry's are cool, the selection doesn't even come close!

*jealous* I've ordered from the site, I just hate paying shipping. I wish I lived near it.

I'm going to get my stuff from there (and vegan essentials) as soon as I get out of the house. My mom doesn't like ordering stuff online for some reason? I offered to pay shipping, but apparently "that's not why!"
I really don't understand her sometimes.
