I have a problem and i jsut realized it now.

I'm going on a feild trip on monday to white water raft with my school. Every year at the beginning of the year we go on this trip. Well last year i wasn't very strict on what i ate because i would eat the option with the least meat. But now i'm having really bas reactions to milk, so i'm becoming even stricter on what i can;t eat. It's better because i'm becoming a better vegetarian and i'm thinking about going completely over to veganism.

Anyways, this trip we rent out a cabin and a camp area. And the adults bring food for us and we all cook it. But they usually have a 'vegetarian' option in that it has milk in it. Well i might have to tell them i have a milk allergy(which isn't horrible far from the truth, i have a bad reaction alot of the times) or something because i know they wont have a vegan option. I am probably the only vegan in my small school the rest are octo-ovo vegetarians or omnis. So when your catering to the majority you don't go out of your way for one person.

And i was thinking about Lunar and cliff bars but i swear i've eaten so many of those, they're beggining to make me really ill whenever i eat one(just to sweet for me i guess.. when i want some food i don't want a sugary treat no matter how filling). And then i was thinking of brining my own non-perishable food. I'll probably have some nuts, seeds, and fruit and maybe dried veggies but i don't really feel comfortable bringing my own meal. People woudl really start to ask questions and think i'm weird, they already look down upon veganism(sadly). And i have low enough self-esteem i really can't deal with that right now.

So my question is should i just give in and eat vegetarian while i'm there? Or is there any other way? I'm ganna feel sick and horrible both mentally and physically if i do..but at the same time bringing my own meals will just shoot my self esteem even lower. I want the first day of school to be enjoyable.

I know i'm digging myself a hole here..

Thanks guys for your help before, i know your getting sick of me.

But don't think badly of these people, even though they look down upon veganism, they are very open otherwise and very kind. Just i guess veganism is a little to weird for them(even though i, and everyone on here i'm sure, don't think it's weird at all.. just some people can;t imagine not eating or drinking milk and eggs. Meat people are a little more understanding.)

Well, you aren't leaving yourself with much of an option! Damned if you do and damned if you don't...you're going to have to decide which is going to make you feel worse...not sticking to your preferred diet or dealing with some snide remarks...I understand the sefl esteem thing, I don't enjoy being different and being the center of attention when it comes to what I eat. For me, I would still go with bringing my own food. My diet is too important for me not to. But that doesn't mean that you should do the same. Just do some soul searching and do what feels right for you. At least there are some fellow vegetarians. Since you have a cabin with cooking facilites, perhaps you could bring something to share with everyone so you can 'wow' them and show them that food can be really delicious without eggs/dairy. Anyway, you'll have to make the decision for yourself. Once you decide, go with it an don't dwell on it. You want to be able to enjoy the trip.
