I've decided that I don't eat enough nuts...I think mainly because they can be quite pricey. Anyways, I heard that nuts lose their nutrients when they are roasted. Is this true? And if so, where do you buy your non-cooked nuts?

Well, in the eyes of raw foodists, roasting is bad and cooking anything destroys the nutrional value of it.

I use mostly raw nuts when I make thing but it is hard to find raw peanuts and I love peanuts. I will eat roasted peanut butter. Plus, I like salt on my nuts.

We had a thread on where to buy cheap raw nuts. Trader Joes seems to be the place of choice:

http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/s...ad.php?t=66307

Whole Foods is pretty pricey but they have excellent raw nuts. Almonds and walnuts have a lot of good fat so I usually choose those.

If you look in the baking aisle of most grocery stores you can find raw nuts like almonds, pecans, filberts, etc.
