Hiya, my name is Aeni, and I'm glad to be here (as of this moment I've been here for about 5 minutes).

I have read some of the messages, and I noticed that there is a mixture of vegetarians and vegans. I started my "quest for a better life" in 2000, and I feel and look better for it. I tried being a complete vegan, but, I have to admit, it didn't work out as good for me. It wasn't because it wasn't the right choice, actually it's a good choice, but I found it too restrictive. The main reason I went with this life style was because I was over weight from constantly snacking on bad food, not over eating food in general, but a whole lotta processed food. I hated the idea of just changing my food habits because I was still eating what is considered bad foods. So I took control of my habits, and decided that vegging out fit well with me. I wanted to eat healthier. So after I accomplished that, I tried to go completely vegan. Not that this happens to everyone, but being on that kind of diet actually harmed me than helped me. I was actually becoming unhealthy, losing the body's natural nutrients. I was actually taking more vitamins to make up for it. For me, taking anything more than you have to, to make something work, is essentially defeating the purpose. So I had to readjust and go back to vegetarianism. And I'm a happy camper now, and I'm glad to be here.
