okay, so i went through this period where i was craving junk food all the time...then i started to not give in to the cravings because it was not exactly a healthy diet...junk food all the time...then just recently (a couple of days ago) i realized that i'm not getting hungry...at all...the day before yesterday, i ate two cold pieces of pizza, and a couple of small rolls...that was it all day (other than a cup of coffee and a can of coke)...then yesterday, i sorta ate more normal (pasta for dinner, and regular sunday brunch), but today, i haven't eaten anything, and i'm not at all hungry, even though by now i've usually had one or two meals...it's like i just forget to eat, and when i remember, there's nothing i want to eat/am hungry for.<br><br>
ideas on how to make myself eat more (balanced)?? please!

oooohhhh i have the exact same problem as you, i go through stages its so weird. for a few weeks i will eat a whole bunch and then for a few weeks i can barely eat anything...but it looks to me like you've trained yourself not to eat even when you are hungry, so now your body is used to not eating....i went through this thing for a month i could barely eat anything at all and my stomach shrunk a ton so whenever i did eat i felt like i was fulll, that sounds like what you have been doing.<br><br><br><br>
so my advice is when you are craving junk food and stuff go eat something healthy, but if you are still in this not eating stage make sure you eat something even if you arent hungry. because if you keep not eating it will get alot worse and you will get all dizzy and feel really crappy and stuff. so force yourself to eat, thats what i have to do, then eventually i am able to eat more.

thanks. yeah, for today and tomorrow, i went out and bought two frozen dinners so i'm sure to eat something...<br><br>
but yeah, what you described seems quite familiar. i'll go through times when i'll eat a good bit of pb&j for lunch, then a few hours later, five pieces of pizza, is perfectly okay.<br><br>
yeah, i'll try to eat healthy stuff when i want junk food...but nothing grabs my eye...and so i give up and just not eat. like, i think about cereal for breakfast (i'm lacto-ovo) but then the thought of milk makes me ill. then i think yogurt...milk strikes again...and making myself pancakes...the eggs and milk in it make me feel bad for eating them...<br><br>
thanks for the advice, though.

if you're having trouble with breakfast food have a bagel with peanut butter on it, or just some fruit. i personally cannot handle things like pancakes in the morning, i have to have something bland so i just have half a bagel with cream cheese and some orange juice...but you can easily subsititute peanut butter for the cream cheese if you are having issues with dairy.<br><br><br><br>
the main thing is to make sure you are eating regurally, even if you arent hungry...when i go through that stage i just eat alot of little things throughout the day. granola bars are healthy, fruit, etc...cant think of much more at the moment but if i can i'll be sure to let you know. good luck!

when that happens to me i just eat 3 balanced meals, small ones if im not hungry. "grazing" or snacking worsens the situation for me because i end up eating at weird times. if you train your body to eat around the same 3 times, you will get hungry again at normal times and all will be good.

Why don't you try soy/almond/rice milk or soy yogurt or vegan pancakes?<br><br><br><br>
I can't help much with you not having an appetite, though.. I've got the opposite problem. But when you do eat, for now, try to make it fairly calorie-dense, like with your pasta. If it goes on for a while, you might want to talk to your doctor.

i did try soymilk for a while, and found i really liked the vanilla kind, though the plain worked better in cooking, but the last two times i went to the store, i said "hey mum, can i grab some soymilk, please?"<br><br>
her- no<br><br>
me- why not<br><br>
her- it's too expensive<br><br>
me- so i'll pay for it myself<br><br>
her- i said no, don't argue with me<br><br><br><br>
*sigh* i can't wait until i get my license, (i need a physical...but for that, i need to find a doctor <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">) then i can do my own shopping...a lone<br><br>
yeah, i'll try eating at more regular times...i'm going to my grandma's for the rest of the week, so i'll probably eat more just because every thirty seconds she offers you food...though i am worried that she won't understand the concept of veggie food (i've never had a meal where it was just her and me since i went veggie...)<br><br>
thanks for all the advice...i think i may go see if i can find a bagel and peanut butter...that sounded good <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)">

There are days i am not hungry at all but i will choke down a meal because i know my body needs it. But, right now you sound like my brother- he is going through his growth spurt and some days he will eat everything in sight and then sleep all day the next. Could you be growing? Good luck!

My suggestion is when you're shopping with her, make sure to have your money with you. While she's grabbing some stuff, you go ahead and get the soymilk. That way it won't inconvenience her in any way (if that's the issue). It took a while for me to convince my Dad to buy soymilk for me... =( If I don't finish the jug before it expires he complains because it is sort of expensive, so I feel bad.

yeah, i was comparing prices today, buying a quart of soy costs almost as much as a gal of the dairy...but i did go shopping today (and oddly enough, i did have my money on me...maybe i'm psychic <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"> ) i wound up just grabbing the soymilk, tofu, and chik'n patties off of the shelf for me, but made sure my parents noticed i was grabbing it. they said 'go ahead' and wound up paying for it, so i'm happy <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"> thanks for the advice!

I'm very rarely hungry too. I think maybe once a week I feel hunger..Not because I eat all the time, but because to me food is just something I need to stay alive..I eat very little and don't have a big appetite, along with being a VERY picky eater =) I don't want to be more than 100lbs though, and now I am 100lbs.

Thats not really healthy. Even if your not hungry you should eat way more than one meal a day. That and small bone structure might be the reason your so tiny. I plugged in the weight and height and your bmi is a little over 12 <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/undecided.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":-/">

You can't be healthy if you are so severely underweight. Stick-thin little kids that are less than 5' weigh around 70 lbs. My brother is 4ft 3, around 85 lbs and he's really really skinny.<br><br><br><br>
Are you sure you feed yourself enough? If you are only hungry for one meal a day, that's a sign you're starving yourself and you shut down your metabolism. And you obviously can't get nearly enough calories from one meal!
