Where do you all find non-leather belts?

There's actually a kiosk in the mall by me that sells nothing but belts. I asked the other day if they have any men's belts that aren't leather, and they don't. They had some elastic type, but the end parts were leather. Pretty sad, really. I can understand the majority being leather, but for a specialty store to not offer a single non-leather option is pretty pathetic.

For now, I have two leather belts (one black, one brown) that I'll wear until they shred. But the black one is already starting to look a little worn down since I wear it almost every day, and I need a good black belt to wear with a business suit, since I'm planning to do some job interviews soon.

I honestly don't wear belts too often, so I've never had this issue, but you might try these veggie-friendly sites:

http://www.vegetarianbelts.com/

http://www.mooshoes.com/

http://www.veganessentials.com/

I don't know where you live, so some of the sites might not ship to you or may have prices in a different currency than you use. I just quickly looked through some of my bookmarks to see what I've browsed through before to see if they sold belts. Good luck!

canvas belts are in all the shops around here, or used to be anyway, so I stck with them. Are they not available near you? Have you tried high street clothing stores aimed at teenagers? You might find them there.

I hate belts, but my sister likes them and has had some of the same trouble. She found some at Target, but it might've been luck of the draw.

Vegetarian Belts (linked above) is an awesome company. We met the owner at the Toronto Vegetarian Food Fair in September. Shipping is free to anywhere in the world, and they're made in Canada.

These belts are made from recycled tires! When Spiderman's leather belts wear out we are getting some of these!

around here, there are small stores of just trinkets and toys and bags, all chinese made, and they usually have belts that are either inexpensive canvas or vinyl. target and other chain stores will probably have a few inexpensive choices too, but if you're looking for good quality belts, you might be able to find what you're looking for in pangea's vegan store, www.veganstore.com.

Pkk, my husband plays and I think he got his straps at a guitar/music shop. I suppose if you're creative enough, you could make one out of an old seat belt.

Speaking of which, there is (is as of two summers ago) a gift shop in Lakeside, OH (a private, Methodist affiliated resort town on Lake Erie) that sold belts made of recycled seat belts. While they were out of my price range at the time, I wrote the belt company name down. I know exactly where the shop is, but I don't remember the name. Otherwise, I would call (after Memorial Day, as that's when the summer season starts; The tow is pretty much dead in winter) and ask. They also had belts made from recycled materials with recycled soda bottle caps on them. My SIL had a similar belt, but since she got hers at a mall, I don't think it was the same thing.

I just did a Yahoo! search for "vegan belts" and came up with at least three pages of relavant information.

I hope this helps...

Sorry to be slightly off topic but I have the same problem with guitar straps. Anybody have any ideas or solutions?

This isn't exactly what you were asking about, but have you looked into suspenders? They're usually leatherless (in fact, I've never come across a pair that did have leather, although they might exist). They look a bit quirky, but I find them to generally be comfortable. (Although sometimes they slip off your shoulders, which is a touch irritating)
