I'm thinking about giving up drinking all together.<br><br><br><br>
Which would mean that i'm a non- smoking, non durg-taking, non-drinking vegan.<br><br><br><br>
Is there anyone else like that here?<br><br><br><br>
I just sound like a complete bore<br><br><br><br>
What are your thoughts?

I drink and I smoke. Drinking I don't have a problem with, but smoking is flat-out stupid, I know. For me, being veg isn't about my own health -- it's about the health of the animals. Actually, I should mention this point under the "stupid things omnis say" thread: they say, "You're a vegetarian, why do you smoke?" and I'm like, "It's not ME I'm worrying about...."<br><br><br><br>
Guess I'll have to get around to working on me, eventually ...

I used to smoke, drink, use drugs & eat meat. I stopped eating meat in 1986, stopped drinking (once and for all) in 1994, stopped smoking cigs (once and for all) later in 1994 and gave up the rest of the drugs (mainly prescription tranquilizers & pot) in January of 1995.<br><br><br><br>
It takes a little getting used to, but it's incredible how much better I feel. I honestly don't think I'm boring. I still have a lot of fun, I go out to hear the music I love (even though there are a lot of other people drinking, smoking, etc. there), I go to parties and have fun (even though... as above). I am actually relieved when I see others doing all the things I used to do, that I don't do those things any more, since I feel that I'm the one having more fun.

I'm "clean".<br><br><br><br>
I simply don't have the desire to take any mood altering substances per se. I cannot think of many things I **hate** more than when my thinking is blurred and/or altered by anything.<br><br><br><br>
I'm not opposed to drugs however - in fact I'm vehemently against the war on drugs. And I'm a curious person so I will experiment every once in a while. I also think that most things we do is a drug to us (foods, etc).<br><br><br><br>
And I **HATE** to deal with drunk or even slightly drunk persons - and I hate to smell alc in the breath of somebody close to me.<br><br><br><br>
Oh and needless to say, I have a very different definition of boring than the amount of drugs a person consumes.

Well, I am there (I have, maybe, 2 drinks per month, if that), and very few people would call me boring! I have gone through the drugs/ alcohol (never smoked though-legal or otherwise - I couldn't put stuff into my lungs that felt that awful) thing in my late teens and twenties. The truth is that drinking just doesn't interest me anymore. I look at people who drink, and I'm never impressed with their behavior. Even a couple of drinks usually changes most people, and rarely for the better. If you don't want to drink, then don't. Trust me, no one will care whatsoever, and you'll feel better.<br><br><br><br>
"You're a vegetarian, why do you smoke?" and I'm like, "It's not ME I'm worrying about...."<br><br><br><br>
You know what, SunnyK? I really don't care if anyone smokes - I just don't want to have to deal with their smoke. Children, pets, adults and the environment all suffer when people smoke. If you can't do it for yourself, then do it for the animals - trust me, they don't want to breath your filthy, poisoned air any more than I do!<br><br><br><br>
But, it's all your choice - just don't think that your smoking doesn't affect the world around you. The rest of the world gets to breath in the unfiltered toxins that come from smokers.

I booze it up like they might reinstate prohibition <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/beer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/beer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/beer.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""> !!!!<br><br><br><br>
Seriously, there's absolutely nothing wrong with fully abstaining from alcohol unless it's just for a ****ed up reason.

I don't smoke. If I do start smoking, you can shoot me! (I'm that sure i won't start smoking.)<br><br><br><br>
I've tried pot once, but not a lot of it. Just enough so that I don't think unhappy thoughts. But I'm not really going to do it again.<br><br><br><br>
And i do drink, and I probably will drink. I'll settle down and enjoy a nice bottle of moderately priced, non-vintage, bentonite fined white wine, and I'll be happy. (I'm getting bored of beer, and most women prefer wine anyway.) But I do drink less alcohol. Usually because my g/f hates it when I get drunk.

Like others here, I used to do it all. As far as drugs & drinking are concerned, I think it was Homer Simpson who said, "That's what college is for!" From my junior year in high school until maybe 2 years after I graduated college, I smoked pot regularly, drank like a fiend, and did other drugs from time to time. I also smoked cigarettes until senior year in college.<br><br><br><br>
But, I'm 26 now (27 in June) and I'm in a very different place mentally, emotionally, socially, and professionally. I've smoked pot maybe 3 times in the last 3 years and haven't touched any other drug in a long, long time (nor do I intend to). I drink a glass or two of wine with dinner but rarely anything more.<br><br><br><br>
Now that I'm (slightly!) more mature, I've finally realized that an evening is actually more enjoyable with just two drinks, rather than 10. More isn't always better!

I smoked a little when I was much younger<br><br>
I've never been drunk, never plan to be<br><br>
I don't do drugs. The only I've ever tried was pot. I very well might use it again someday, but no more than I'd use any other herb like chamomile or something.<br><br>
It can be a real drag when everyone else wants to get drunk and keeps leaving to go out for cigarette breaks.<br><br>
But as I get older, I notice a lot more people are losing interest in it and finding other things they enjoy. You don't need alcohol to have a good time. You just need good company.

I quit smoking.. almost my one year anniversary <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"><br><br><br><br>
I don't drink that much. In the summer when I'm sitting on the patio, I like to have "girlie" drinks.<br><br><br><br>
There's nothing wrong with giving up smoking & drinking.. I don't see that it would make someone boring. Let us know how it works.

You don't need drugs and booze to be happy. I realised this a while ago. I seldom see the point in getting drunk anymore.

Don't smoke (perish the thought) and I don't do drugs. I rarely drink and I have toyed with the idea of giving up alcohol completely for health reasons. I am usually taking allergy medicine and although if I plan to drink, I just stop taking my medicine for a few days, it would be easier I think if I just stopped drinking. Then I wouldn't have to worry.

There's nothing wrong with giving up drinking and smoking, some of my best friends are fanatic non-drinkers.<br><br><br><br>

I've been seriously considering giving up drinking and caffine. I'd like to stop all perscription drugs, as well (I'm not on any, currently.. but you know. Occasionally if you get sick they put you on drugs). I quit taking illegal drugs (pot and crank) over a year ago.<br><br>
The way I look at it- I rarely drink, anyway. I don't think I'd be missing too much if I stopped drinking right now. My boyfriend is in a fraternity.. and he's a little aprehensive of my plans to stop.. but I know he'd be supportive if I did.

Quitting all that stuff is the best move you can make. Save your money to do really great things like travel, go to funny plays, hang-glide...whatever turns you on. Do the things drunken, pot-head-cow killers wish they could.<br><br>
