In August I'm going to go during 2 weeks in Bristol, so if somebody there live there, maybe he could give me some tips (how to buy, where eating , how to do ( maybe are there some activists ?!)

Thanks everybody !!

Thanks everybody for the nice welcome !

I must make big mistakes no ?

I have received no PM ! What is this story ?

Any way, how do you live with your vegeta*isme ? What are the troubles you get ? I decided to not eat any more dairy products (I eat my grandmother's eggs sometimes cause I think it is a exchange with her chicken (Iknow it's not a chicken it's a girl-chicken lol but I forgot ze name !))for several months. In a few days I'm going to go to my father's, he still doesn't know Irefuse now milk, cheese, ice cream, so I don't know which react he'll get.

There were no problem for meat but now I think he won't understand.

I'm sure of my choices, but I'm not proud of the fear I get when I imagine myself with omnivores. Isn't it a sign that I'm not strong ?

Is there anybody who feel the same way ?

Thanks

OK ! Sorry I didn't understand the question about 80 ! ( excuse me I'm not stupid !)

- yes we say 4 * 20 for 80 !!! It's true it is strange, we complicate simple things !!

- for 90 we say 4*20, 10 without a link between 20 and 10 !!

Ha, what do u think the PM was about ? lol

Hey again!

Your English is just fine, don't worry

Luckily I'm not having many troubles with being vegan. I understand that you're concerned about visiting your father. Keep us posted about your trip.

I don't think you're not strong, in fact you are strong. I don't know if I would have been strong enough to be veg*n with 16. It's only natural that you're concerned about being with omnis, but it's not your fault. There are many misconceptions about veg*ns among omnis and many of us know many of the jokes and prejudices a veg*n will encounter. The most important thing is not to allow it to get you down. Veg*nism is a great lifestyle choice!

p.s. isn't a girl chicken a "hen"?

Welcome to the boards, Marie line!

Your English is fine--don't worry. In fact, it's better than a lot of people for whom English is their primary language. If I tried writing in French, you'd laugh for days.

Hope you like it here! I'm sure you'll find all kinds of support.

Marie- Is it hard to be vegetarian in France? I used to date a guy who wanted to take me to France but said I would have to eat only bread and cheese (and I didn't even want to eat cheese!)

He said in France, people eat many different animals and thick creamy sauces and that if I said I did not want it, the waiter would laugh at me. He spent a lot of time there, so I believed him.

Have you seen the movie Babbette's Feast? It is Dutch, but it is about a French woman who makes this fancy French food for these ordinary people who only eat dried herring and gruel. The French food is really disturbing (from a vegetarian point of view).

Bonjour Marie,

I am sorry, but my French is terrible. (Pardonnez-moi s'il vous plaît, mais je parle français très mal.)

Let me suggest some things for you to do, though.

Visit the Alliance Végétarienne website and ask them what advice they might have for you.

http://www.ivu.org/avf/

They also have a discussion forum where you are encouraged to ask questions:

http://www.ivu.org/avf/EntreNous/FrameEntrenFor.html

Also visit the Bristol Vegetarian and Vegan Society website:

http://www.ivu.org/bristolveg/

They have a Local Guide to veg-friendly restaurants here:

http://www.ivu.org/bristolveg/bvs-gde.htm

And e-mail them at the contact address(es) listed:

[email protected]?subject=Bristol Vege... Vegan Society

You might also contact the national veg*n societies in the UK, because the local group only has a part time volunteer staff.

The Vegetarian Society

http://www.vegsoc.org/

The Vegan Society

http://www.vegansociety.com/

The International Vegetarian Union

www.ivu.org

Bon chance et bon voyage,
