Hello Everyone,

My name is Meg and I am new here. I decided yesterday to become a vegetarian. I have done animal rescue work for the last two and a half years and have 2 dogs and 5 cats. I think the main trigger was the 143 million pounds of beef recall, but I also thought that if I stand for animal rights then I need to stand for all animal rights not just the small furry ones.

So my boyfriend doesn't think I can keep it up, and I have yet to tell my parents, but I am turning to my friend Sarah who has been a vegan for the last 4 years and a veg for 7 years before that. So any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you everyone.

Welcome! Lucky you having a friendly advisor on hand. Good luck!
Indeed, she lives in NY and I live in FL. But I know I can call her if I need her.

Oh thats o/k , don't now how far veg you are , maybe just let go the red meats first let your body adjust then wean yourself of chicken then fish at the same time getting the cooking side of things going as well as understanding the importance of good nutritional intake . There are a stack of recipes in the recipe section .

Welcome!

I'm guessing, by your post, that you're a teenager. In which case, you should check out the teen forum!

Is there any reason why you havn't told your parents?

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I need to find a way to eat a balanced diet. Today, I have stuck to the no meat thing, but have eaten...a bowl of fruit, a small bagel with peanut butter and honey, ritz crackers and sun chips. Hm...I am trying to figure out what to eat for lunch. I have a yummy salad planned for dinner.
