About a month into vegetarian life. Here to learn more recipes and tips.

out of an abundance of caution, last year I stopped eating red meat and made a few other significant lifestyle changes. I had started to use more variety in my vegetable choices and chicken wasn't ADDING to my meals, if anything it was a crutch, so in March I tried making my weekly meal prep with no meat and it's stuck. I didn't vow to never eat meat again, but it's not hard to ignore or replace the occasional hankering. I'm still a fiend for sugar around menses, but baking vegan things gives me a bit more control over what is in the sweets I'm pounding instead of going to any old joint and just buying candy and cake. Even my dog eats better now.

it's been fun

Hey, wow, great achievements already, off you go! onward and upwards!

You know, as soon as I get this sugar craving I fall into the dried fruit "trap" but it´s still better than snacking baked stuff from my view
I've been eating more fruit, but it's yet to consistently sate my sweet tooth. I should keep some dried fruit in the house. Any other ideas?

I made a vegan hummingbird cake on Friday (my hormones are clockwork, as I was making the cake the calendar let me know I'm PMSing [tmi? my bad]). It was REALLY good but I'm aiming to get past this sugar addiction at some point. I suppose I'm just glad I'm only eating sugar when I have a slice and not also downing half a stick of butter. I've given up a lot of unhealthy habits over the last year, so eating homemade desserts is just the next item on my list.

I think that's exactly the problem, compensating for the sweet tooth. Many vegans think that dark chocolate made from cocoa is a solution. However, I think it is another trap.

One option I can think of is chia pudding with rice milk and seasonal fruit. Not necessarily a snack-to-go though.
