I quit eating meat and seafood almost two weeks ago - so very new at this. I have thought about becoming vegetarian for over a year. My family is what held me back. I have 6 year old twin girls and they are big meat eaters. I worried that I will not know how to feed them if I am eating a vegetarian diet. Also, my husband does most of the cooking, so my dietary change will require him to cook differently. After talking about it for so long, I told my husband a couple of weeks ago that I wanted to quit eating meat. He said he would do it with me - so here we are.

I quit immediately, but DH took a few days before he quit. We are still giving meat to our girls, but trying to get them to move to a less-meat diet. It is challenging because they are at a very picky stage. They were great eaters when they were youngers and loved all vegetables from broccoli to asparagus to cauliflower. One of my DDs still loves the veggies and she could easily quit meat, and I think she will on her own when she is a little older. She is also a big animal lover and I think when she realizes what she is eating, she will not want meat anymore. My other DD refuses most vegetables and would eat nothing but meat and peanut butter if we let her. Not sure where she will end up. My main priority is to provide them with a healthy diet.
