I'm jacked up for some partying!!! Buck, buck!!!

I've got the day off, so I'll start some light drinking around 2-3:00. Gotta pace myself (otherwise I would start sooner)...

Some friends of ours are having a slumber party for all the older kids - relatives have Baby Tame for the night.

I've got a bottle of Remy Martin chilling....

Martinis for all (extra dry for me, apple for the women folk)...

Tequila shooters...(hell yeah!)

Party! Party! Party!

(No party for you! No party for you!)

Party! Party! Party!

And yes, I was drinking heavily this evening, so please ignore my ramblings.

We ( my significant other, myself and two mutual friends) are having a vegan potluck and then going dancing. I think we are renting a hotel room rather then trying to drive back, plus then no one has to stay sober.

wellllll we had a few different plans already not work out so it seems we'll be doing what we normally do on weekends. and that is, us, and four of our friends who live in this apartment building meet up at someone's apartment and booze all night. it's horribly boring for me but the guys enjoy it and i don't have to worry about anyone driving home drunk. passing out in the hallway is another matter altogether.

we may even get another couple who are good friends to come, they live across town and are really antisocial and never go out when we invite them. but being a special occassion maybe we'll get lucky and they'll make an appearance and we can finally exchange xmas presents

Well....its my 17th birthday tomorrow, so I've had to live up to the party-animal expectations...I'm having a vegan lunch with my family and then I'm spending the rest of the day with Austin, my boyfriend, and we will get drunk off our asses and make sweet love until the New Year comes in (or we pass out...).

Where did this idea come from that the new year starts on Jan 1? How was that decided? Is the decision to ascribe the start of the year to Jan 1 based on a natural phenomena that we can use to confirm this belief?

If we are simply agreeing to go along with an ascription of the new year to this date, rather than subscribing to the belief that there is a particular phenomenum that observation and reasonprovides us with, to use in articulating a description of the correct date -- then the question becomes whose ascription do we go by? Who has the authority to decide?

Isn't it time we scrutinized the idea of the year starting on Jan 1 more thoroughly?

When do we usually consider something to be "new"? What is are our usual criteria for the beginning of something?

Soilman, I always wondered why on earth New Years doesn't coincide with Christmas - What could possibly be the reason for that? We are in the year 2002 after he was born!! So, why wait another week to start a year?

no. i think you're trying to intellectualize the enjoyment out of a stupid holiday. what is it to you if we celebrate on january 1st or on march 7th or september 23rd? it's just a day, if you don't feel like celebrating, don't. simple as that. i think the majority of the people on earth celebrating it is all the "authority" you need really. it works, why worry about changing it. would it improve anybodys lives?

I think SM just enjoys a bit of scientific scrutiny. Just for the fun of it maybe. Am I the only one with a hangover?

I don't know if I feel like poo because of a hangover or my oncoming cold.

Crawled into a bottle of Remy Martin last night...started doing shots of Jaegermeister...thought shots of Alabama Slammas would be a good idea...oops...

Mrs. Tame thought this would be a great morning to let Baby Tame play with his noisy new toys. *%#@!

I think aes is trying to psycho-anal-eyes the enjoyment out of a holiday intellectualization.

If you don't feel like analyzing the reasons for choosing Jan 1 as the first day of the new year, aes -- don't.

Nobody said I don't feel like celebrating on the evening of December 31. But I prefer to celebrate Elvis Presley's birthday on that evening, rather than the new year. Even though it isn't Elvis Presley's birthday, as far as I know.
