Hi everyone. I'm 28 from Canada and have been vegetarian for a little over a month now. I've educated myself more about animal welfare which has helped me stay on track to maintaining a vegetarian diet. I want to go vegan, and have slowly been changing certain meals to be vegan. I've given up eating eggs and cow's milk, but finding it hard to give up foods that have traces of milk ingredients or cheese - which is in a lot of foods. I have some foods at home that contain it and am considering eating them during my transition, then not buying them again - or donating them to the Food Bank. I'm discovering a lot of new alternatives to dairy and meat - some very good and some not my favourite. One thing I've learned from vegetarianism/veganism is to really get informed about what's in your food. So many people (or at least I was) are unaware what is involved and where it comes from. As I like to quote, "An unexamined life is not worth living." - Socrates. Thanks for reading.

I found that not buying them again was the best way to avoid it. And you have to learn to change the way you cook as soon as you can cos that helps a lot. Welcome to VB.
