hi

I can get some light-headedness when my body is adjusting to a less fatty, lower-protein diet, after being used to a lot of fatty or high protein foods.

if you still have light headedness, is your new veg diet similar to your old diet?

If you were eating a lot of meats or cheeses before, then try replacing them with mock meats and high protein high fat mock-meats. And then gradually add more lower-fat and lower-protein foods and veggies and fruits.

it's possible your body is cleaning itself out, if you changed your diet very quickly, so try a more gradual change..

makes changes easy on your bod

For me, there is a very clear transition when my body shifts from burning carbs temporarily cached from recent meals to burning stored fat. In burning stored fat mode, occaisonally I might be tempted to call myself 'light-headed', especially if I was unfamiliar with the sensation. It may be that you are experiencing calorie deprivation. Remember, if you're doing the plant-based diet correctly, the caloric density of your foods has fallen (calories per bite) while the nutrient density (nutrients per calorie) has gone up. Good luck!

Thanks. I think you both are right. I went from eating unhealthy to vegan overnight. After viewing PETA'a website, however it is a little hard to eat anything. I have done some internet research and it sounds common. There is a good article on "Cleansing reaction" at healthforce.com if anyone else experiences this. It describes exactly how I feel. Light headed/ flu- like symptoms.... Thanks for the encouragement.

you are definitely the best guide to yourself over time, but do consider adjusting your diet gradually. I've found slow&steady makes for the easiest, most sustainable changes, and without many challenges.

Or if your switch immediately, that can work too, if you can stand thru the adjustment pangs, and give the dedication you need. I went veg in 2 days, and vegan in a few days, and my further changes since then have gone better by being more gradual.

hugs* after you've seen peta pics; they're difficult (but important). be sure to balance them out with some loving pics of the animals too.

http://www.farmsanctuary.org/gallery/index_sheep.htm has some ones of rescued animals we should feel some love for what we're doing

this is probably a good sign that people were meant to eat meat, since it's part of a healthy diet. I don't understand how people can think we were meant to eat "mock-meat by products" but eating meat is completely wrong

Mock meat is not a by-product of meat. Its made of plant products.

There could be 100 reasons she is feeling light heading (including her body adjusting to eating lower proceesed foods, or she may not be replacing the meat in her diet with enough calories to make up for it).

Research first, then present an arguement.
