Some of you probably remember AllAdvantage from the late nineties. It was a paid to surf program, where you downloaded a toolbar and got paid for each hour you were active online. It was very successful until the fall of the dotcoms.

Well, they are making a comeback. I want to be the first to tell you of course because then you are my referral and I get some small amount if you make any money. But since it is just starting you should try to get in now to be on the bottom of the pile and you can get your own referrals.

The toolbar will be available for download before the end of March(supposedly, but they keep moving it back), and then you can start earning your pay to surf money. But right now you can already sign up and start getting referrals.

The program is now called agloco and I promise its not as scam (at least that I am aware of). Its free to sign up, you just need a valid email address. I've done a fair bit of research to see if it will be worth my time and it seems so.

It doesnt require you to do anything other than have the toolbar active to up to 5 hours a week. They have a picture of it on their site and it looks pretty unobtrusive. You get paid for each hour you have it active plus a smaller amount for each of your referrals hours.

In the 'original' version payout was usually over $.50/hour. So its not much by yourself, but then again you don't have to do anything. Plus you get money for referral hours so it can add up eventually.

link: (referral) AgLoco

Of course I won't force you to use my referral link, but it doesnt hurt your money making in anyway...just helps mine!

Here is non-referral link AgLoco although I prefer you use mine...

If a mod finds this inappropriate, please close...

ah yes, but there is no do...just have the toolbar get $10/month minimum.

All it does is show you ads that you don't have to click on. Same as the google toolbar, alexa toolbar, and many others except you get something for using it.

How do you get the money? It seems to good to be true (why would you get paid to have a toolbar?) Do they mail you checks? Did you ever do something like this before?

yeah, I did alladvantage back before the dotcom crash. I made about $30 but I didn't have any referrals, just myself

You get paid because the toolbar will show ads relevant to the pages you are viewing. You don't have to click on them, but its good for the program if you do click on the ones that truly interest you. This time around they are also doing affiliate programs with major online retailers such as amazon. So when someone purchases something after following a link on the toolbar the affiliate money is 'shared' back to the toolbar users along with what the company gets paid for showing the ads.

It worked pretty well the first time around, but online advertising was way over rated back then. The companies advertising lost money in the 'crash' and so couldn't put up any more ads...hence the original program went under.

This time they are 'sharing' more of the revenue with the user community, so that the program has a better chance for longetivity. last time the owners made over $100 million and 'shared' $100 million with the user community.

Anyways, I don't believe it is any kind of scam because you never have to pay them anything. If its not performing, I'll just quit. Hopefully the toolbar won't just be spyware or something malicious (it wasn't last time).

Oh, and yes they mail you checks.

That's what they did last time and it seems to be what they are going with this time.

I checked out the site, but I don't see an area to type in an address, just an email. (Sorry if I'm asking to many questions- just want to know what I'm downloading) Also, does it download any type of spyware, viruses ect on my computer? I really dont like downloading stuff because of viruses, ect, damaging my computer. (I dont know how many friends downloaded stupid 'smiley central' just to have their computers damaged.)

lol...yeah I know what you mean about viruses (I've been there). Well, the toolbar can't actually be downloaded yet so I can't give you a definite on that one. Best I can say is when they notify you of the release - read some reviews on google before downloading. Based on their policies I think it will be safe. And you don't have to download anything initially - just the toolbar when it is released.

Quote:

I also found this inside the site on the My Profile page.

Quote:

We need your address to send you your checks. Fake information may disqualify your account.

So I guess this confirms that they will send checks. I don't remember if they asked for my address when I first signed up (even though it was only a day and a half ago ), but it is in there now. Maybe you have to manually go to your Profile and put it in there.

just because they don't distribute your personal information does not mean they don't place some kind of spyware on your machine. I wouldn't even think of letting someone do that. I made that mistake ONCE in the early days...

There would be some kind of spyware there. They're not paying you to surf for nothing. Not all spyware is malicious, of course, but they would want some feedback for their money.

well, i'm sure that that is probably true. Just for tracking purposes to learn about internet behaviors and help with understanding what advertising works. But I don't think it would be malicious or the program would never catch on.
