Dear all,

After being inspired about a documentry on giving away information freely I decided to convert my first vegan recipe book, the happy hippo, to be readable online. It contains almost 60 recipes including pancakes, chocolate and cherry tort, onion bhajis, and lots more.

If you want to check it out please follow the link below:-

http://www.thehappyhippo.org.uk/recipe_hh_cover.php

As I am prone to making slight mistakes please tell me if you find any links that do not go where they should go. There are about 400 and I have only checked half of them so far.

I hope you enjoy them and if I can distract myself from chocolate making, pot and games I will put up my second book, the voluptuous vole, online.

Looks good, but I noticed that some of these recipies call for cream and butter... would the recipes still come out okay (texture-wise, ect) if I used veganized versions?

The book is a vegan book. Only vegan ingredients were used in the making of it. One of the things that I am trying to do with my books is to get away from this dreadful convention that vegan books do and that is to throw soya in front of everything (soya cream, soya butter). I used a vegetable butter that tasted more buttery than margeriney, you could use an olive oil based spread or even a soya based one. With milk you can use your favourite, whether it is soya, almond, rice, coconut, hazelnut, etc. It is up to you.

The vegan diet is extremely varied so why should we limit ourselves to just soya milk/cream/......?

Oooh good, that makes me very happy. I was a little bit confused at first ( ). I love your creativity with this.
