am so excited to join this forum. My family became vegetarians when I was born so I have been vegetarian for 90% of my life with the exception of a few years when I ate some fish. At the beginning of this year I started bodybuilding competitively and decided to go completely vegan again. At first some of the members in the gym joked about my vegan muscles but when they started leaning down for summer and began getting tired and dragging while I was still feeling energised and great, they started asking questions. It gave me an opportunity to answer some questions and spawned my blog. It has been quite a journey for me this year. Having a blog about this topic has also kept me more focused on making sure to make healthy choices. It's amazing how many people really just don't know enough about nutrition and health.
I'm excited to learn from other members here on this site and just to share stories.
It really is amazing how little we know about health. There are quite a few things I would like to know the answers to but AFAIK nobody knows yet We need more research.
I work out at a local branch of the YMCA, but I have a naturally slender build so competitive bodybuilding isn't a realistic endeavor for me, even if I wanted to try it. But I've learned firsthand that moderate weight (cybex/nautilus) workouts do me a lot of good, and I feel great right afterwards; all the day's tension just gets forced out of me and into the equipment. (Too bad I can't get moving early enough to do that before work- I'd have that great feeling all day! But as it is, it usually does last at least partway into the day after my workout).
