Okay, well, turns out we are buying a 3 bedroom modular home from my SO's grandma, and it's on his aunt's property. That's cool, I like little kids bothering me every hour while I'm studying.
Anyway, the place needs the carpets torn up and the inside repainted, and the fumes are worrying me. I have 3 rats who will not be staying there until the place has aired out, but I cannot find someone to take my cavies or the cat and dog(< reason we are moving). Is there a way to minimize the fumes inside? Or is there perhaps a brand of paint that is not so bad? (I hope!)

You can look for "low-VOC" paints. VOC is "volatile organic compounds." Most brands carry low- or no-VOC paints.

Make sure there is plenty of ventilation - open windows. Some houseplants help purify the air, if you like houseplants, but you need to have a LOT of them for it to actually make a difference.
