Interesting news. According to Reuters, English students under 16 years old are encouraged to experiment in oral sex as part of a Government-backed drive to cut Britain's sky-high teenage pregnancy rate, newspapers reported on Friday.<br><br><br><br><i>The Times</i> said the scheme, pioneered by Exeter University and backed by the Departments of Health and Education, trains teachers to discuss pre-sex "stopping points."<br><br><br><br>
The idea is to reduce promiscuity by encouraging pupils to discover "levels of intimacy," including oral sex, instead of full sexual intercourse.<br><br><br><br>
The complete story is over here:<br><br><a href="http://reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=healthNews&storyID=2268173" target="_blank">http://reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml...toryID=2268173</a>

Personally, I think various forms of "mutual masturbation" should be stressed, instead of "oral" sex. This goes for people of any age. Resorting to "mutual masturbation" most of the time, instead of sexual intercourse, or "oral" sex, reduces the spread of disease and is contraceptive, and can provide complete gratification, and communication of one participant to another, about gratification technique.

Not a bad idea, but I think manual stimulation would be better. Maybe not as gratifying, but it has much lower risk of std transmission, and less stigma. I also think it is more likely that the guys would reciprocate at a better rate than with oral sex.<br><br>
I also think that is important for teens to be encouraged to think about why they want to do this stuff and with whom. With someone you trust and who respects you is one thing, but to try to look cool or win love from someone is quite another. (Something that unfortunately doesn' t always fade with age.)

I thought this was going to be a play on the John Cleese sketch from "The Meaning of Life"- the one where he teaches Sex Ed by bringin in his wife and showing everyone how it's done by banging her in his desk at the front of the class.

C'mon, when you're already undressed and in the throes of passion, do you really think, "Hey, I don't want to get certain kinds of STDs, so lets only do oral."

I know, Robert. I said "certain kinds" of STDs in reference to oral. I'm guessing that there are some STDs that are only transacted through vaginal intercourse.

Abstinence doesn't prevent STDs? Please, inform me.

I think she means that just telling a teen not to explore with each other obviously doesn't work because they are going to explore anyhow. Yes, abstinence does prevent STD's, but in reality some (or most?) teens don't practice abstinence. So, abstinence is not a viable solution.

At the risk of "assuming", I think FD's post was in response to the reasoning behind the British teaching such a course. That Oral Sex is *one* alternative to lessing teen pregnancy. They are not teaching it to prevent STD's, but to lessen the increase in teen pregnancies.<br><br><br><br>
The majority of teenagers do not practive abstinence, regardless of education and information. Providing an alternative method may just work to achieve lessen the teen preganancy boom while still allowing teenagers to explore their sexuality and bodies, which most are going to do anyway.

I went on a coffee date with this guy from Australia, and he very casually talked about sexual matters (in a non skeezy way) and I couldn't believe how much I felt embarassed. He commented on how conservative Americans are.

Just this past weekend I was kind of thrown back a bit. My stepdaughter heard a song that I was listening to as I cooked dinner. She says her mom won't let her listened to that song because it's dirty. I asked what dirty was and she said you know, sex. She's going to be 10 in July. So, I figure she's getting older, and I really don't think it's a good idea for her to get it in her head that sex is dirty or have negative embarrassing feelings towards it. So I said, no, sex is not dirty. People connect, make love. I didn't explain the birds and the bees, that's mom's job.<br><br><br><br>
I did ask her if how her mom feels about the violence in some of the song's she hears and the movies she see's (I know she's seen some R for violence movies with her mom). And I know she knows entire songs word for word that tend to fall on the violent side of the fence. Seems mom doesn't really mind her being exposed to violence that much; just the nasty sex stuff.<br><br><br><br>
Huh??<br><br><br><br>
Maybe this will explain a little about why <i>some</i> of the younger kids act and react the way they do.

I'm intrigued by this because I knew few girls that weren't performing oral sex by their 16th birthday. Not that there was anything wrong with it. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/pimp.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":tame:">
